Kelly and I met by chance. And that chance changed my life. Because of that chance, many lives were touched and continue to be touched. It is because of Kelly and Melissa that our organization Texas Heart Strings exists. It is through this organization that our event Flight Against Breast Cancer has been able to raise thousands of dollars to fund breast cancer research for the past 12 years. We will continue to do so. Kelly and I were the founders of our riding group Mid Life Cycles. With this group of friends, we have raised money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, participated in Christmas parties for foster children, toy runs for different organizations including Shriner’s Hospital and Boys and Girls Club in Hockley. He was a true friend and we shared many laughs, good times, motorcycle trips, meals, cold ones, working on bikes, cars and homes. We have also shed tears. He was someone I could always confide in, a mentor, a big brother. Above all, he was just a super nice guy, never met a stranger and was willing to help in anyway he could. He was the big brother I never had. NONE of that would have happened if I had not stopped and asked him about his motorcycle. May he now rest in peace and I will be happy to see him when my time comes.
Prayers to all during this difficult time. May God wrap his arms around your family Heather.

RIP my brother and fellow MLC – without you we wouldn’t have this fine group of Motorcycle riders. And you internal GPS skills still amaze me to this day. May I live the final years of my life as you lived your entire life – I’m forever blessed to have known you!!
I met Kelly and Melissa through my late husband Brian. After he joined

Kelly will be someone that I will never forget. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.
We are heartbroken at the loss of our dear Freind and lifetime Brother. Kelly was an outstanding Father and Grandfather. A Master Machinist and a voice of common sense. A lover of Nature and long Bike Rides to see the beauty of this Country. The Brazoria Barnett Family send all of our love and prayers to all who will miss and love him like we do.
He will be missed by so many. Our deepest sympathy to Melissa and family.
I met Kelly and Mellisa in 2009 when I joined MLC. I always admired Kelly because he rode his bike like it was part of his body. His riding was one fluid motion. Always wanted to ride like Kelly. He has always been such a likable friend. He will always be the last bike on the ride. Never be forgotten. Thank you Mellisa for all the time you shared him with us. Love you guys. My deepest sympathies for your loss.
Dear Melissa and family, our sincere condolences. Enjoyed the many rides and meet and eats and the parties that MLC had. Bob Newlin said it best, they were so close.
Sorry we couldn’t be at the Memorial service but you all will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I met Kelly for the first time when I was introduced to this group around 2014. I had heard great things about the group in general from Craig W. whom he and I worked together. Showed up for the first ride of MLC and was greeted by Bob and Kelly with warmth and as if I had known them for years. What a welcoming couple of guys. My wife and I had joined Bob and Kelly on our first ride with MLC to Arkansas. Bob as usual was heading up the group with Kelly riding in the rear. Since Coco and I were fairly new to the group we were riding slower than the rest of the group and falling behind yet Kelly never complained and with the biggest smile on his face just continued to stay with us. On day 2, we were traveling along Arkansas Hwy. 123 North and working our way through a number of tight switch-backs, when a group of crotch rockets rounded the tight turn ahead of us approaching our bike head-on in our lane. By the grace of God, two bikes crossed immediately in the path of our bike and missed us, crashing to the left and right of us. Kelly was a few seconds behind us and immediately pulled over to try and offer aid to the down riders. Coco and I were able to pull over and try to do the same. It was a shocking moment that candidly disturbed Coco for what would be the rest of the trip and makes her a bit nervous today in recollection. The calming effect that Kelly had on Coco and I after the incident was what we recall most. He will always be in our memory as being there for us on every ride. He will be truly missed. With the warmest of thoughts and prayers for Kelly, Melissa, and their family
