Gaylon Gene Ray (72) of Texas City passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 in League City.  He was born December 12, 1950 in Louisville, Mississippi to Ava Nell and John Ray Sr.

Gaylon was a resident of Texas City for 57 years formerly from Mississippi and Louisiana. He was very strong in the Baptist faith. Gaylon was active with La Marque Little League when his boys were younger; he enjoyed traveling, fishing and antiquing with his grandkids and was an avid gun collector.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family.

Gaylon is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years Donna Kay Ray and sister Shena Guidry.

He is survived by his sons; Jason Ray and wife Jennifer and Brian Ray and wife Linsey; sisters, Shari Flake and husband Timothy and Shana Black and husband Jerome; brothers, John Ray, Jr. and wife Angela and David Ray and wife Jill, and sister-in-law Barbara Wainscott, grandchildren, Tyler, Macy, Presley, Layton, Kaleb, Kobey, Kaden, Christella and Rose; great granddaughter, Katie Ray; and numerous extended family.

A visitation will be on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 5:00pm-7:00pm with the service at 7:00pm in the chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home 401 Texas Ave La Marque, TX  77568 with Pastor David Mahfouz officiating.
