Wayne Edward Gotsch
Wayne Edward Gotsch, 70, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away November 16, 2014. Wayne was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on August 14, 1944 to James and Mildred Gotsch. He retired from NASA as an aerospace engineer after 40 years of service. He will be greatly missed by his family, especially during his children’s and grandchildren’s sport activities. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Lorraine Casias.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Margaret Ann Gotsch; daughters, Lorri Vogel and her husband Chris, Mary Margaret Armstrong and her husband Josh, and Magdalena Dover and her husband Robert; son, Matthew Gotsch and his wife Bridget; and twelve grandchildren, Alyssa, Anthony, Elizabeth, John, Therese, George, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Tabitha, Claire, Wallace, and Arthur.
A memorial visitation in his honor will be held Friday, November 21, 2014, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, with a memorial service at 5:30 pm, Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, Dickinson, Texas.
I knew Wayne as a fellow member of our Space Shuttle Program team. Wayne always had a smile on his face and was a pleasure to work with. My prayers go out to the Gotsch family in this time of sadness.

I worked with Wayne in the Space Shuttle Program Office. Wayne was smart, kind, engaging and a great co-worker. My life was better because Wayne was in it.

Darn, what a loss – I interviewed and hired Wayne in the sixty’s. He was fresh out of school (If I remember correctly) from UT. He was not an A student, but there was something about that young man that told me he was going to make a outstanding addition to the Space program – and he did. We’ve made contact again with e-mails these last few years and I will sorely miss Wayne.
I had the pleasure of welcoming Wayne into the Landing and Recovery Division, which seems like only yesterday. He will be thought of often and missed always.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Wayne’s family. Margaret, Lorri, Mary Margaret, Magdelena, Matthew and all his loving grandchildren have lost a very big part of their lives. Wayne was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. So, so sorry for your loss.

I meet Wayne on the sidelines of his granddaughters volleyball games, he was a great cheerleader. He will greatly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
