Marcia Joyce Fowler Regelbrugge
Marcia Joyce Fowler Regelbrugge passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022 at Serenity Gardens in Friendswood, Texas after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Marcia was born on January 21, 1937 in Grapevine, Texas to Aurelia Bailey Fowler and Ernest Fowler. She attended Birdville High School and went on to study at Aurora College in Aurora, Illinois. While there, she met the love of her life, her husband Bob. Married in 1957, Marcia and Bob remained soulmates for 64 and a half years.
Marcia was a devout Christian and grew up as a member of Advent Christian Church in Haltom City, Texas and then joined Grace Community Church in Houston, Texas. Following her faith, Marcia was always contributing in some positive way to the lives of others. Her early years were heavily influenced by her mother, Aurelia Fowler, who raised her and her sister, LaNelle, as a single Mom. Marcia was herself a loving and caring mother to her three children Lori, Brad, and Tana. Her compassion for others motivated Lori to become a Special Needs Therapist, Tana a Social Worker, and Brad a hard-working and dedicated team member at the Brookwood Workshop.
While spending many years as an advocate for the Pro-Life cause, she also volunteered as a counselor at the Beltway 8 South Crisis Pregnancy Center. True to her generous character and endless compassion, she went above and beyond for all her clients, helping them successfully navigate the challenges of finances, language, lack of transportation, and other significant hurdles as they began their new families together.
Marcia started her unexpected career path as a Realtor after Bob won a real estate course in a local golf tournament. She always went above and beyond for her clients and took great pride in guiding families in their search for the perfect homes. Eventually settling in the Clear Lake area, her particular joy was helping young couples find their very first home.
With Bob’s fun and success on the course it wasn’t long before Marcia was bitten by the golf bug herself. In 1978 they bought a home on Golfcrest Country Club where they spent many wonderful, memorable years playing with golf buddies and friends. Their shared love of the game steered many of their travels and they played all over the country including Hawaii, as well as in Mexico, and Europe.
In her later years, Marcia also enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, and hiking, especially along Castle Creek trail in Aspen, Colorado.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” R. Regelbrugge; her children Lori Ray, Bradley Regelbrugge, and Tana Wood; her grandchildren Amanda Ray Willard and Zackary Willard, Ashley Ray Fant and Brandon Fant, April Ray, and Carter Wood; her sister LaNelle Whisenant; her niece Kimberly Norris; and many friends.
Special thanks to Reyna Flores, Marcia’s loving caregiver for the past eight years, and the wonderful staff at Serenity Gardens Memory Care Facility in Friendswood for the dedicated care that she received there.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 Broadway, Pearland, Texas; a celebration of life will immediately follow at Golfcrest Country Club, 2509 Country Club Drive, Pearland, Texas. Donations in Marcia’s memory may be made to the Beltway 8 South Crisis Pregnancy Center (LifeLineCPC.org) or any Alzheimer’s-related non-profit organization.
