J. Susan Lee
Susan was born March 26, 1960 in Rockaway Beach, Missouri, to Ruth and Wayne Lee, joining her four older brothers Chuck, Billy, Steve and Jimmy. The family, originally from Crown Point, Indiana, continued their journey south to Houston, Texas when Susan was just three years old. She graduated Pasadena High School in 1978 and went to work for Pasadena State Bank. After a few years Susan moved into the apartment industry working both on property management and as a sales and marketing representative. She was an active member in the Houston Apartment Association for nearly 30 years. Susan also was a twenty-year volunteer with the Houston’s Livestock Show and Rodeo and a chairman of Leukemia Foundation charity events for ten years.
In January of 2013 it was discovered Susan was suffering from a cerebral aneurysm. She had many challenges since receiving this diagnosis, but was a trooper and was willing to do anything to, in her words, “fix me”. She had been successfully living with surgery last spring to stabilize the aneurysm. Susan made great progress with her short term memory problems lessening. She was also able to drive, and was recently able to begin participating in the Houston Apartment Association once again. Despite every possible intervention Susan lost this battle on Tuesday September 30th, 2014. Susan is survived by her husband Frank, her mother Ruth, brother Steve, brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Sabine, and nephews James and Alan.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 7 pm, Monday, October 6, 2104 in the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, Webster.
Susan was a very beautiful girl with a spirit just as beautiful. She will be missed.
I miss my friend of 57 years. Her brother Billy and my brother were best friends. My brother’s b’day was 03/06/1957 and her brother’s was 03/07, they spent a lot of their b’days together. My b’day is 03/24/1960 and Susie’s was 03/26, we spent many of b’day together, all of us, since 1963. In 1974, our brother’s were tragically killed together, in Billy’s 1967 Mustang Mach 1. They lived on Turtle Creek, we lived on Winding creek until 1973. After,we moved to Alta Loma (now Santa Fe, TX.) she drove to visit on day, in one of those huge black Lincoln Continentals, I warned her not to back off the culvert in that big lug, she retorted she new how to drive and proceeded backward into the bar ditch. We laughed about that for years. City driver! At her memorial after gathering, her brother Jimmy explained to me, that because of my father, he had made a living pipe fitting/welding. He also married a girl I went to high school with @ SFHS, Sabina. My recently deceased father shared the same b’day with Susie 03/26. She told me that on a drive from Houston to Galveston with a date (before Frank!) as they neared Galveston, she pointed to right of I45 and told him,see that tall palm tree, my childhood friend lives there, he said, what is her name, she said Kelly, he said, I dated a girl named Kelly that lives over there. After some short banter, they figured out, it was me. She ask him what happened, y’all seem like a perfect fit he told her, I was to conserved for him, she said, we can’t be talking about the same Kelly. He and I laughed about that at the memorial. By the way Hurricane Ike took the palm tree. Are these just merely coincident? I think not. These persons that created some of my most fondest memories, as they say, have now become a memory. We remained friends until her passing.
Happy Heavenly Birthday sweet friend!
