Bruce Lauder Robbie was born on October 23,1947 in Galveston, Texas (BOI), and died peacefully on December 17, 2021 in Houston, Texas. He was the oldest child of Leonard Wallace and Helen Beard Robbie, and big brother to Linda Rae Robbie Scarcella.  He was a graduate of La Marque High School, attended Texas Christian University, and graduated from the University of Houston and South Texas College of Law.

He would tell anyone who would listen that he could not believe he had gotten so lucky to marry the love of his life, Linda “Motor” Ruth Moore Robbie, on June 28, 1969. Their meeting was meant to be, and he told her on the first day they met that he was going to marry her. It is truly because Motor kept him in line that Bruce lived to the age of 74! Together, they had two children, Shannon and Seyth, and

he would tell you that they were his greatest accomplishment. He always said that he was a real son of a bitch, but he must have done something right for God to have given him his wife and children.

He and Motor raised Shannon and Seyth in Baytown, where he spent 30 years with Exxon/Exxonmobil before retiring.  They were members of Memorial Baptist Church, but regularly attended Mass and Services at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Memorial Methodist Church, if it meant spending time with their grandchildren.

To know Bruce was to love him. He never met a stranger, and he had no problem telling you exactly what he thought, regardless of whether you were the CEO of a company or down on your luck. George Bailey had nothing on Bruce Robbie, and if a man is judged by the number of friends he has, he was the most successful and wealthiest man ever.  Whether it was friends from his childhood, college and work, the friends of his children or the parents of his grandchildren’s friends, he was so loved by many.  There was always a smile and a lot of laughs if Bruce was around.

One of his favorite sayings was “they may not know me when I get there, but they’ll damn sure know me when I leave“. He lived up to that every day of his life. He was bigger than life, the funniest, loudest, craziest life of the party you ever met. Bruce, Linda, Shannon and Seyth were dubbed the “Fun Family” because it was always fun when he was around.

He will be so missed by all of his family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, father and sister. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Motor, his children: Shannon and her husband John, and Seyth and his wife Rebecca, seven grandkids who loved their PawPaw more than life: Jack, Reid, Burke and Ramsey Ramirez, and Luke, Catch and Tess Robbie; brothers in law: Thomas Moore and Michael Scarcella; nephew: Matthew Scarcella; great nieces and nephew: Riley, Emma and Milo Scarcella, and honestly too many friends to list.

We would be remiss to not mention his life-long friends who visited, texted or called almost every day during his long, 2 year illness: Johnnie & Bo Holt, Kay Houston, Jeanne Santarelli Kemeny, Pat Kemp, Kathy & James Masten, Donna Mercantel Montgomery and Martha Bethune Perry. Thank you to everyone else who called or visited to check in with Motor and check on Bruce. We would also like to thank the wonderful doctors and medical providers at Memorial Hermann (Medical Center, Katy and Memorial City), Dr. O’Leary at Endocrine Associates, caregiver Delia Aguilar, nursing and rehabilitation providers from Encompass, caregivers Yvonne Hill and Kayla Garrett from Caring People, and the staff from The Forum.

His wish was to be cremated. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on January 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas.  A reception will follow.
