Alvie Souverne Rushing
Alvie Souverne Rushing, 91, of LaMarque, Texas passed from this life on December 11, 2021 after a courageous battle with multiple illnesses, sustained by his faith in God and the constant support of his loving wife Audrey and family.
Souverne was born on November 8, 1930 in Denison, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy right after high school and proudly served for four years. For 35 years, he was a boson through Seafarers Union out of Houston, and was on many ships which enabled him to see much of the world.
While Souverne was a connoisseur of all sports, he was an ultimate fan of Denison Yellow Jackets and Dallas Cowboys, and a fan of all Texas College football teams. He often spent all day outside gardening or maintaining the landscaping he and his wife Audrey created at their homes throughout the years.
Left to cherish his lifetime of memories are his beloved wife: Audrey Mancuso Rushing; stepchildren: Louana Bertrand and Greg Menta; step-grandchild: Natalee Jeanette Hall and numerous nieces and nephews with whom he shared adventures, laughs, and perpetual love, and faithful furbabies Prissy and Sassy. Souverne is preceded in death by his parents: Alvie and Ethel Rushing; grandparents: John and Irene Rushing; sister: Neva Dell Rushing Herzog; brothers: J. W. Rushing, Charles Bud Rushing, Ronald Rushing and Jerry Van Rushing. A special remembrance goes to the VA hospice angels, especially Lula, who fought right beside him until his last breath.
A Visitation to celebrate this well-lived life will be held Saturday December 18, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas.
