Dena Lamarr Cope

On the morning of Thursday December 2, 2021 Dena Lamarr Cope, age 63, went to be with our heavenly father.

Dena was born on June 24, 1958 to Maxie Johnson and Anna Stephens Johnson in Texarkana, Arkansas. After graduating from Arkansas High School in 1976 she went on to marry Billy Cope of Texarkana, Texas in 1977. They shared their life together for 44 years until the time of her passing.

Dena spent the majority of her career working in the energy industry with both Halliburton and Waste Management’s training and development department. She was a lifelong learner who inspired and mentored people wherever she went. Her talent was training others to perform at the highest level, and she shared these talents all over the world before her retirement in 2017 from Waste Management.

During retirement Dena spent her time sewing, cross stitching, riding motorcycles with her husband, and caring for her family and friends. As we look back on her life it is Dena’s caring nature and selfless personality that will remain in the minds and hearts of many. There is hardly a time that can be recalled where she was not doing something for another person. From pet sitting for a friend while they traveled to gathering unused resources and school supplies for underprivileged students, Dena blessed so many people in so many unique ways. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her.

Dena is survived by her husband Billy Cope, daughter McCall Palmer, father Maxie Johnson, mother Anna Johnson, sister Paula Johnson, and brother Phillip Johnson.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 3pm- 5pm at the family’s home in Katy, Tx and December 21, 2021 at the Holly Springs Church of Christ in Fouke, Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flowers and condolences may be sent to the family’s home.

  2. Sorry to hear of Dena’s passing. I worked with her at Halliburton. She always sought to help others and learn new skills. I taught her on some data analysis techniques and she was one of the few people I met that was truly interested in helping others and making a difference in performance. A great person. I’m sure she made a difference in many peoples lives.
