Angie as she was called, grew up in the small towns and bayous of Louisiana. She married Edward F. Phillips Sr. in March 1946. He was in the Navy, and they moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he was stationed and she had their daughter, Linda in April 1947. In May 1947, they moved back to New Orleans and made their home and had two sons, Sonny and Ricky. She was a homemaker and loved her life caring for her family. In 1958, Eddie and Angie moved their family to Galveston, TX. There, they were the owners of 5 family neighborhood bars. These were the types of bars that the gentleman felt comfortable bringing their wives. Angie loved spending time with her customers talking and laughing. She had so many regulars that would come in and talk just with her. That is one thing she could do – talk and tell stories! She loved that. In 1966 Eddie and Angie divorced.
In the years followed, Angie met Johnny Huepers and they were married. Johnny had four daughters of his own, and Angie at the time she was raising her niece Terri. Together, Angie and Johnny adopted a little girl named Jennifer. One could say, it was a full house on 40th Street in Galveston! Angie loved cooking and entertaining at her house. After dinner, it was time to play cards; and played cards they did until the wee hours of the night. Unfortunately, Johnny passed away in November 1984.
