Abel Christian Melendez, 13, of Alvin, Texas, passed away on August 14, 2021 in Pearland, Texas. He was born on December 18, 2007 in Webster, Texas to loving parents Abel and Jenny Beth (Bankston) Melendez. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Abel was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Julian & Juana Melendez and Carole Bankston, and great-grandfathers Jesus Vela and Russell Fitzpatrick.

He is survived by his parents Abel and Jenny Melendez, sister Abigail Melendez, brother Alden Melendez grandparents Lorie and John Corkins, Abel and Linda Melendez, and Jon Bankston, great-grandparents Catarina Sanchez-Vela, Donis Fitzpatrick, and Judy Cox, uncles Jonathan Bankston, Joaquin Melendez and wife Monica, Miguel Melendez, and Eric Melendez and wife Sara, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Abel was a sweet and pure soul who touched many people’s lives in such a positive way. He always brought laughter, love, and happiness to all. He was our sweet boy loved by everyone he knew. Abel loved spending time with family and friends being silly and laughing. He taught himself how to play guitar and piano and enjoyed dancing and clapping to all types of music. Abel loved animals and they always brought joy to him. He loved his brother and sister very much and made many memories with them that they will cherish forever. Abel had a special heart and always brought people together. He learned how to say one word and that was ma-ma. No matter what he went through he was always a fighter and the strongest little boy we have ever known. We are so blessed to have had 13 amazing years with him and will hold him in our hearts with us forever.

A visitation for Abel will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 110 E South St., Alvin, Texas 77511. The funeral service will take place Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:30 AM also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.

Abel fue un alma dulce y pura que tocó la vida de muchas personas de una manera tan positiva. Siempre trajo risa, amor y felicidad a todos. Era nuestro dulce chico amado por todos los que conocía. A Abel le encantaba pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos haciendo feliz a todos y riendo. Aprendió por sí mismo a tocar la guitarra y el piano y disfrutó bailando y aplaudiendo con todo tipo de música. Abel amaba a los animales y siempre le traían alegría. Amaba mucho a su hermano y hermana y hizo muchos recuerdos con ellos que apreciarán para siempre. Abel tenía un corazón especial y siempre unía a la gente. Aprendió a decir una palabra y esa fue ma-ma. Siempre fue un luchador y el niño más fuerte que hemos conocido. Estamos muy bendecidos de haber tenido 13 años increíbles con él y lo mantendremos en nuestro corazón con nosotros para siempre.

Una visita para Abel se llevará a cabo el jueves 26 de agosto de 2021 de 6:00 a 7:00 p. M. Con un rosario a partir de las 7:00 p. M. En la iglesia católica St. John the Baptist, 110 E South St., Alvin, Texas. 77511. El servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo el viernes 27 de agosto de 2021 a las 10:30 AM también en la Iglesia Católica St. John the Baptist. Seguirá el sepelio en el cementerio confederado en Alvin, Texas.
