James Fredric Desler
James (Jim) Fredric Desler, 82, passed away on June 23, 2021 in Seabrook, Texas. He was born on August 13, 1938 in Omaha, Nebraska to Rosamond Christina and Arthur Frederick Desler. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosetta Desler; daughters Bonnie Norman and husband David and their children Anne Marie and Emily, Donna Johnson and husband Brad and their children Alex and Samantha, and Pam Callahan and husband Jonathon and their children Zach and Nate; sons Jim Desler and spouse Amy and their children Hudson and Calvin, and Tony Desler and his children Ariel, Cassidy and Rhett. He is also survived by his sisters Joni Livengood, Sandy Whyte, Mary Desler, and Elizabeth Desler. Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Duane Desler.Jim served in the US Air Force before earning a BSEE from University of Wisconsin, an MSEE from University of New Mexico, and a PhD from Northwestern University. He worked in geophysics at various energy companies in the Houston area and held patents in marine geophysics. He had a passion for travel, woodworking, curating his extensive photo library and spending time with family. Some of his greatest joys were working on his land in the Texas Hill Country and making his Grass Valley house into a children’s paradise. He also loved planning trips that brought his large family together, playing cards, and joining in family games.
I will miss you, brother. Many memories growing up in Omaha.

I worked with Jim at BRC and at Tomlinson Geophysical. Super nice guy and very very brilliant. I doubt seriously if you still remember me Rosetta but we met several times.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing, I was a classmate of his, and was happy to hear how much he had accomplished in the later years. It’s such a hard time for the family, and with saying that, please accept my deepest sympathy.
