Gary Frank Giamalva
Gary Frank Giamalva transitioned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 due to complications of COVID. Gary was born March 18, 1947 in Galveston, Texas to Joe and Pearl Palermo Giamalva. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Pearl Giamalva. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Giamalva, his son Cameron Giamalva (Laura), his step son Joshua Rowe (Valeriya), his brother J.L. Giamalva ( Marla), niece Kelly Giamalva, his grandchildren Mia Giamalva, Cynthia Rowe, and Samuel Rowe, and many cousins and friends.
Gary was a barber and worked for 30 years at his own shop, People’s Choice barbershop and then later at Pete’s Barbershop until Harvey took the shop. He had many passions in life but the one he loved the most was playing in pool league at Legend’s in League City. He loved the competition and the comradery with his pool buddies. He loved darts and just recently had taken up golf again. He also had a passion for motorcycles, trucks and cars and had many throughout the years..always on the look out for a good deal.
Gary loved his family and always loved Thanksgiving which was always a big family event. Gary had a big sensitive heart and loved so many family and friends especially his grandchildren he adored.
I cannot express my sincere appreciation for his son, Cameron, that took the charge for the care of his Dad due to my own run in with COVID which prevented me from helping him. Cameron, your Dad adored you and would have done anything for you. Just know you are dearly loved. I would also like to thank all the family and friends that has supported me with meals and prayers and encouragement.
In recent years, Gary gave his heart to Christ and loved going to One Church in League City. He was just beginning to greet at church and loved it. Pastor Steven Yoes was such a great influence on Gary’s walk with Christ, and I cannot thank him enough for his support and prayers throughout all of this suffering. It is hard, but I know he is now free and healthy and I will see him again in our permanent home.
The Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 1-3:00PM with a Celebration of Life Ceremony at 3:00PM at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573.
In lieu of flowers, I would ask that donations be made to One Church, P.O. Box 2765, League City, Texas 77574.
Online viewing of the ceremony is being offered at:
Debbie, Cameron & Josh, I feel a great loss in my heart upon hearing that Gary had gone to be with GOD. This empty feeling will always be there and I deeply regret not seeing Gary recently to see his smile again. I consider Gary a once in a lifetime friend which is so rare these days. I know he is home now and is at peace. I want to express my deepest condolences to all of Gary’s family, especially to you Debbie as your life partner and best friend will be greatly missed. We will see him again in heaven and get to hear him sing and play guitar again forever.
I knew him from Legends we used to pick on him about his really deep voice. He could sneak up behind you and scare you to death just with his voice alone. Very sweet and loving man. Not a mean bone in his body. If i would have known he was sick i would have brought food or done something to help. The world and Legends have lost a Legend…..He is definitly going to be missed praying for the family.
If there is anything we can do please let us know..
Uncle Gary , you will be missed dearly ! I am blessed to call you my uncle and will miss your wonderful sense of humor and amazing guitar playing and singing ! I wish we could be there today but we love you very much !!
Gary was my sister, Linda’s, brother-in-law and always treated me like family. I have a fond memory of Gary singing the Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons song, Sherry, to me when I was a little girl. I loved that. Remembering him for his talent and ability to make people smile and laugh. May he Rest In Peace and praying his loved ones are at peace knowing he is now singing with Jesus.
Love,
Sherry Lackey Vetter
My thoughts and prayers are with you my loved friend and to your family. Any time there is something you need or just to talk I’m here.❤️❤️
I first met Gary when I played basketball against him in high school. Then he was my barber at Oliver’s barbershop in LaMarque. We kept up through the years as I always looked forward to our conversations while getting my haircut. He had a personality that no one will ever forget. I’m sadden by his passing.
Gary was a wonderful person who loved only God above his family. Gary and Debbie were there for me when I went through a hard time in my life and both welcomed me and my daughter Tia with open arms. Gary had a beautiful voice and I loved to hear him sing and play his guitar. I know, Debbie, he will be greatly missed, but like you said, you will be together one day in our permanent home. I love you, dear friend.
Dear Debbie and family, Though we can’t be with you to celebrate Gary’s life in person, we will definitely be there via live streaming. Your brother, Paul, I, Timmy, Jessica, Natalie, Abby, and Maddie will watch together and will be praying as well during the service. Gary touched our lives, our hearts, in a most positive, humorous and loving way as no other could ever do. I can only imagine how heaven must be with him there! Gary was a giant of a man with a child-like gift of love that always brought an assurance of being loved. We will never forget him! We love you. 🥰
To my Sister Debbie We are going to miss Gary so much his special talents and how he could make us all laugh with his crazy sense of humor! He was a special man and loved his family and friends ! But when he got to heaven and saw Jesus and Mom and Dad and many others I know he is happy and singing with mom and the angels. It’s just so hard to believe he is gone I am sad we didn’t get to say goodbye ! I love you sis wish I could have come to the memorial big hugs 🤗 to you ❤️❤️
We are so saddened by the loss of our friend. We feel blessed to have known him and grown up with him in Dickinson. Please accept our deepest condolences and know that your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
I met Uncle Gary for the first time with Aunt Debbie in Mineola at my grandparents’ house. I knew then he would be a special part of our family. He was always smiling, joking, singing. If he had bad days, you never knew it. I remember his care and patience with Memaw helping her with her guitar. He might have towered over you, but you never felt small around him. His passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts, but we know he is singing with Memaw and the other angels who are in heaven.

There were so many good times that i was blessed to share with Gary over the years and especially those in the recent months when talking about the Lord and how our lives had changed because of Jesus. We also recently spoke of his love for buying and selling rare cue sticks, since that was one of the enjoyments we both have shared over the past 40 years. His sense of humor and gift of gab were two of the many traits that thousands of people were so blessed to share with him over the years. His smile and antics were intoxicating. So many of us were truly blessed to have spent time with him. He always spoke so highly of his wife and son. Gary had a good life and brought joy into other people’s lives, sometimes not even knowing it. I love you Gary and will see you soon. God bless.
To my friend Debbie :
I’m saddened beyond words … But I’m happy to know Gary is in Heaven with his Lord & Savior ❤️
I love you … Jen

So sorry to hear that Gary has passed. What a wonderful, fun, personality and genuine big hearted and loving person.I employed Gary in 1972 as a hair stylist,he was always interested in learning more new techniques and innovative ideas. He would entertain the clients with singing and dancing in the Salon. He had an infectious smile that never left him.It was my honor to work with him and know him as my friend.May God bless his family and may he rest in peace.
