D’Ann ‘Gail’ Newberry, 86, passed away on April 22, 2021 at home in Nassau Bay, Texas.  She was born on April 17, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to Elvin Frances McElroy and Novis Pearl White McElroy. She is survived by her husband Jerry Wayne Newberry; daughter Dr. Deborah  D’Ann Crawford of Fort Collins, Colorado; son Lindsay Jackson Crawford and wife Brenda of Kauai, Hawaii; brother Carl Bruce McElroy of Corpus Christi, Texas; step son, David Wayne Newberry & wife Darcy of Newnan, Georgia; granddaughters, Katharine Neff, Hannah Neff, Andrea Neff, Sinclair Neff; grandson, Christopher Crawford & wife Ashley; step granddaughter, Kirby Birdsong; step grandsons, Nicholas Newberry and Spencer Birdsong; great grandchildren, Avery Crawford and Connor Crawford and numerous family members and friends. Preceded in death by stepdaughter Susan Frances Newberry Birdsong. Special thanks to step son-in-law Todd Birdsong for his loving care and support. She had a passion for sewing and public service.  She was a 28 year member of the Nassau Bay Garden Club where she served three terms as president and a long time member of Nassau Bay Parks Committee.

Memorial arrangements are pending.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Gail’s name may do so to the Community Association for Nassau Bay Enhancement (CANBE a 501(c)(3)) at nassaubaycanbe.org.  Proceeds will be used to fund a memorial bench in her name.
