Janie (Alaniz) Borrego

Janie (Alaniz) Borrego, 59, born January 25, 1962, went home to be with her Lord April 24, 2021 in Pearland, TX.

Janie is preceded in death by her father, Natividad C. Alaniz, Sr., brother, Alberto C. Alaniz, nephew Natividad C. Alaniz III, and step-father Sebastian De la Rosa.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 33 years, Daniel Borrego; daughter, Vanessa & husband Brandon Lacy; son, Richard R. Cruz; grandchildren, Damian, Nicholas, and Alayna Lacy & Aaliya Cruz; mother, Maria C. De La Rosa; brothers, Natividad C. Alaniz, Jr. & wife Belva, Jose A. De La Rosa & wife Nancy, Sebastian A. De La Rosa Jr., and Francisco Alaniz.

Janie’s is a life that has changed us all forever. A beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend; she is beloved by all.  Her smile, her giving heart, her larger-than-life laugh can compare to no one.

She was hard working, strong willed, but with a giving heart; full of love and compassion for others. She was big on family.  For her, family came first.  She was dedicated to her husband, her mom, her children, and her grandchildren.

Janie was also dedicated to her job.  Her professional career, in the mortgage business, spanned over 30 years and for the past four years she was proud to be a part of the Cornerstone Home Lending team.

She loved to travel, being blessed to have traveled to Italy, Amsterdam, and Israel and hoping to make the journey to explore Greece one day.

Her toughest journey came the last few weeks of her life.  She felt everyone’s prayers; she knew they were sustaining her. She was so genuinely thankful for them. She knew the Lord; she knew He was in control.  She was at peace then and is at rest now.

Her body could no longer endure and so the ultimate healing was granted to her, in heaven, in the arms of the Lord.

Jesus promised to give us eternal life, that is, the quality of life that is lived in heaven forever.  Jesus kept His promise when He died on the cross and rose from the dead.  We received His gift of eternal life when we were baptized.  We live eternal life when we give our lives to Jesus and love Him with all our hearts all our souls, all our minds, and all our strength. (see Luke 10:27)

Janie, we trust, went directly to heaven, as we know that before her big setback, she was able to receive an anointing of the sick, confession, and communion.  We rejoice in the Lord for opening the opportunity to reconcile with his daughter and prepare her for the journey home.

We must now celebrate her life and the time God granted us with her.

Thank you, Janie, for giving us your unconditional love.  Pray for us, as now you are so close to our Lord Jesus.

Eternal Life is…

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.” —John 10:28
