Gerald J. “Jerry” Clause
Gerald J. “Jerry” Clause died Saturday, March 27th, peacefully in his home with family. He was 81 years old. He was born April 19, 1939, in Vacherie, LA (on Oak Alley Plantation). He spent most of his earlier years in Labadieville, LA. After graduating from LSU in Electrical Engineering in 1961, he spent 2 years in the U.S. Army as a Commissioned Officer. On January 5, 1963, he married Peggy June Zeringue. Peggy and Jerry have four children, Holly, Ritchie, Melanie, and Emily. Jerry worked at the Michoud, LA facility as a Systems Engineer with Chrysler Corporation Space Division. While at Michoud, he obtained a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University. In mid-1969, Jerry and family moved to Houston, TX and settled in Clear Lake City and he began work with McDonnell Douglas on the Skylab Program. In February 1974, Jerry went to work with Rockwell International Space Shuttle Program. He had always had the desire to get into the business side of the space business. Rockwell gave him that opportunity by assigning him as Supervisor of Finance and Administration. While at Rockwell he obtained a Master of Finance from University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Certification as a Professional Contracts Manager. In March 1981, he returned to McDonnell Douglas as Director of Business Management with responsibility for all non-technical work except Human Resources. Major assignments were the construction of a seven story office building in Clear Lake City and was the Business Manager on the construction of the Neutral Buoyancy Lab (Swimming Pool). He negotiated the sale of the now Sonny Carter Training Facility.
Jerry served as President of many Professional Management Associations. He and Peggy were active with University of Houston-Clear Lake. He was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus and was the first recipient of the Leadership Award. Outside of his professional work he spent free time with his family and helping others within his community. He started Clear Lake Soccer Club in the early 1970’s and coached soccer for 8 years. He also announced little league football games for the Clear Lake Space Bandits (later known as Clear Lake Space Raiders) on Saturday mornings for 13 years. In the early 80’s, he became involved with the Lunar Rendezvous Festival. He has spent the last 35+ years serving on the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the festival. In 1997, he was honored to be selected to serve as King of the Lunar Rendezvous Festival. What extra free time he had from family, work and volunteering was spent traveling the world with Peggy. He and Peggy were blessed to have visited approximately 100+ different countries and cruising the world. He loved to travel. He was a kind, generous man of wit who was respected by all no matter their role in life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

I have just read this very sad news, and want you Peggy and the entire
family to know how very much I respected Jerry. He was always quick with a welcoming smile and a kind, fun loving persona. He will be missed by the entire
Clear Lake community. Please know you are all in my prayers with hopes that all of
your wonderful memories will in time bring you comfort and peace.
Deed and I send you those prayers and love.
Peggy and Jerry have been pillars of the Bay Area for many years. Jerry was an amazing volunteer in the community.
My condolences go out to the family at this sad time.
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear this. And condolences to his wife Peggy–I almost feel as if I know you, Peggy. Jerry and I were just casual work acquaintances, but he managed to work your name into most conversations, over a 30-year period of knowing him! Over those 30+ years that I knew him, he was just such a gentleman. When I was younger, he was so kind and accepting and included me in professional conversations as though I had ideas worth hearing, and when I was older, he just bounced thoughts back & forth with me as if I were an equal. I treasure his memory, and wish his family all the best.
Dear Peggy and family,
May the LORD comfort you and give you HIS peace.
You are all in our prayers.
Jerry and Laverne Johnson
Peggy, you and all your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
It was a joy to know Jerry. We always looked forward to visiting
with both of you. Jerry and you helped make Clear Lake a better
place. We were fortunate to know him. Take care.
I am so sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. He was such a treasure to the community and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with him and Peggy at almost every charity event Clear Lake had to offer. He leaves us with a beautiful legacy.
Dearest Peggy and family, Matthew and I are so very sad to hear this news. His smile would always light up a room and you always knew that he had a story to share from all of his travels. He will be missed by all that knew him. Our prayers to you and family.
Love and prayers,
Angie and Matthew Weinman
Our heartfelt condolences to Peg and the family. Jerry will be sorely missed by so many! Considering how accomplished he was he was also so self-giving and humble. He was also a warrior in his battle with cancer. Our love and prayers are with you all.
Gene and I send our heartfelt condolences at Jerry’s passing. Love that we got to share a bit of Clear Lake life with he and Peggy. What a fine Louisiana Man ( turned Texan!). Prayers to all.

Dear Peggy, I am sad to hear this news. Jerry had such a wonderful personality and he will be missed. Prayers of comfort and peace to you and your family.
I’m going to miss my Louisiana friend. What a gentleman. Peggy you know I will be there for you❤️🌴
Sending sincere condolences to Peggy and the entire family. Jerry was a wonderful neighbor. You could count on him to be friendly, helpful and involved in so many different ways. He will always be remembered as a shining presence in our community.
We take comfort in knowing the pain is gone and he now rests in the embrace of the Lord. Jerry was a kind and jovial man. Never met a stranger, always made a friend. Geoff and I are proud to have known him and we hold Peggy and family in prayers.
Missy & Geoff Rorrer
Peggy, Mel and I were saddened to learn of Jerry’s passing. We found ourselves reminiscing about our children and neighbors and the “wonder years” on LaCabana. We will miss Jerry for now but believe with all our heart that this old world we live in today is merely the launching pad for a far far better place and God willing someday we will meet again (but maybe NOT play those hilarious parlor games on New Year’s Eve!). So many memories make me smile!
I know you have a wonderful family and that together your faith will get you through these difficult days. We always trust in God . . . there’s no other way! Mary Goldman
Dearest Mrs. Clause, Holly, Ritchie, Melanie & Emily,
Words cannot express my deepest sorrow for your loss. I know this is a very sad and difficult time for you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! God Bless.
