Smt. Nirmal Devi Jain

With profound sadness, we announce Nirmal Jain’s passing, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on March 11, 2021. She left us while sleeping peacefully at a Hospice facility in Houston, TX.

Nirmal was born on August 22, 1944, in Haryana, India, to Sh. Noonkaran Das Jain & Smt. Vidya Devi Jain. She later married Sh. Satish Jain, resident of New Delhi who preceded her death in 1993. She had 2 sons, Atul & Rajiv. Rajiv passed away in 2006 after a long illness.

From very humble beginnings, she devoted her entire life working as a Teacher in New Delhi, India. ‘No matter who I marry, I will continue to work’ used to be her favorite line reminding us that she was part of the new India back in the 1960s, where she believed in the cause of women empowerment. She was supported by her family in this endeavor. She managed to raise her 2 kids after the demise of her husband. She then moved to the United States in the year 2015 to live with her son, Atul Jain.

Nirmal was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She is survived by her son Atul and his wife, Reetika, including two grandkids Aadya & Raghav.  Her deceased son’s wife, Kalpana lives in India with her grandson, Naman. Besides, there is an extended family and friends who she loved and touched deeply.

Most of all, she loved her family and instilled in her kids’ strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A cremation ceremony will be held at Crowder Funeral Home (2422 E Broadway St, Pearland, TX 77581) on Saturday March 13, 2021 beginning at 9am CST.

  1. Bade Mami as we addressed her was a very lively person who was always smiling and had her unique way of pampering the kids that I can never forget. She could go into the play area of the colony ensuring our two brothers (specially Atul/ Monu) had milk and juice whilst they were playing in the colony. She was a very brave lady and was most cared by Reetika, Monu, Aadya and Raghav in the last few years. Rest in peace Mami.
