Russell Charles Robertson
Russell Charles Robertson, age 55, passed away on November 26, 2020 in Houston, Texas. He was born on May 9, 1965 in Morristown, New Jersey, to Paula and Charles Robertson. Russell struggled with alcoholism for many years, and the Demon Addiction finally took his life. He is survived by his mother, Paula Criswell, and father, Charles Robertson, Charles’ wife, Paula; his son, Paul Robertson (PJ), PJ’s mother, Brenda Robertson, bonus-son, Brandon Marler, and bonus-daughter, Lauren Fodera; sister, Renee Craig, Renee’s husband, Matthew Craig, brother, Ramsey Robertson, Ramsey’s wife, Mindy Robertson; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members; and many friends from Texas to California to Alaska to Africa.
At the age of 19, Russell proudly joined the Coast Guard, where he served heroically and with great joy for six years, primarily in Kodiak, Alaska. He worked as an Aviation Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic as Chief of Maintenance for Frontier Oil Company in Houston and as a corporate aircraft maintenance contractor for other companies. Besides airplanes and all things mechanical and electrical, he had a passion for baseball and for fishing, hunting, and camping adventures in the wild beauty of Alaska. He loved to take his son PJ on fishing trips to Alaska with long-time, dear friends there.
A private memorial service will be held for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, those who want to make a secure donation in Russell’s memory may do so to
The DeBakey VA Medical Center. One-hundred percent of the donations are used for Veterans in need.
My memories of my brother-in-law are mixed with joy and sorrow. My joy is the memories of Russ’s love for his family, and his generous spirit to all. He was a free spirit who enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, baseball, and football. His love for Alaska was great and it began while he was stationed there in the Coast Guard, and he always loved going back whenever he had the opportunity. My sorrow is that Russ has left a hole in all of our hearts with his passing, and he will be greatly missed.
Love you Russ! Always and Forever xoxo Wanda Girl (Lauren)
I met Russell when he was eight or nine, when Paula and I as new friends, combined our five lively children into one group, while we had adult conversations and they played. That was nearly fifty years ago. As the children grew into the wonderful adults they were destined to become, our two families remained close, even through the and the distance of relocations A bit of a wild child, Russell and Inonetheless shared a strong bond of affection. I loved his intelligence and the generosity of his heart, even when he attempted to keep those qualities hidden. Paula, Russell, Renee and Ramsey are family, people for whom I have the greatest affection and respect. During this time of inexpressible loss, my heart and spirit pour out to them as we grieve together for this beloved person whose life was far too short.
Russell was a one of a kind nephew. He could be tender and gentle, or tenacious and as tough as nails. Over the many years, we had great times, great conversations, many laughs, and of course, some tears. As far back as I can remember, he always had a growing curiosity of “how things worked”; cars and clocks come to my recall. Russell loved deeply, friends and family alike. His face would shine like a star, when speaking of his son, PJ. I will miss his wonderful smile, terrific laughter, and his warm hugs; the hugs he gave out sparingly, but were so warm and worth it when he gave you one. You were so loved Russell, and always will be. I will miss you with all of my heart.
Love, and of course HUGS,
Aunt Wanda

Beloved Russell will always blaze in my memory as an passionate rapscallion who can steal your heart with a wink of his eye and drive you to angry tears the next. Russell housed a kind generous spirit that bubbled to the surface when you go to know him. He loved his children and his parents and siblings and let nothing stand in his way of assisting them with anything they needed. The Universe is just a bit dimmer without the light of Russell.
