Howard Hall
Howard Hall was born on January 14, 1934 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to Howard and Grace Hall. He was an “only child” who’s life was changed drastically when his father died at an early age. His devoted mother raised him with the help of family to become an intelligent young man with a strong work ethic and a devotion to family. Persevering through financial hardship, he graduated with a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology. Upon graduation, he joined the Army and became an instructor in the aeronautical field.
Howard met the love of his life when stationed in Texas in his first position after leaving the military. A ravine-haired beauty named Ruth would become his wife and keep the Michigan boy in Texas. His career was a successful one working for multiple contractors in the Space Program and he has resided in Clear Lake City for over 50 years. He became father to a son and a daughter. Howard Hall was preceded in death by his beloved Ruth. He is survived by his: children, Rebecca(husband David) and Howard(wife Dorothy); as well as two grand-children, Ashley (husband Jeff) and Sera; Two great-grandchildren, Harper and Taylor, also brought a sparkle to Howard’s eyes in later years. The greatest joy in this modest man’s life was his family. He was also blessed to be surrounded by devoted neighbors who became dear friends.
An informal “Celebration of Life” will be held at the family residence on October 17 (Saturday) from 2 – 4 pm. The family would like to celebrate this wonderful man and also recognize him as a 3-time cancer survivor by inviting those that knew him to make a donation to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
What a wonderful, smart and humble man Howard was and met him years ago and will never forget Howard and Ruth❤️
Thank you so much Lori and Joe for your kind words and message. We miss Mom and Dad tremendously. However, we know they together once again and find peace in that.
As Ruth’s 1st cousin on her dad’s side, I can tell you they were the most wonderful sweet people and very loving. They loved each other and now they are together again. I want to mention Ruth’s nephew, Kent, his wife Ulee and their two sons were very much part of Howard’s family and I know they along with all who knew him will miss him. To me he was known as big Howard to distinguish from his son who is also named Howard. Rest now in peace, Big Howard.
Thank you Sunny. Much love to you. Mom and Dad truly treasured every memory of the times we spent together as do Howard and I. You are exactly right as Kent and Uli (and the boys) were so beloved by Mom and Dad and provided us such great comfort during this time of loss.
My name is Harold Covin, 1st cousin of your mother Ruth. I never had the honor of getting to know your dad but know how much Ruth adored him. My wife, Jo and I are very sorry to learn about Howard’s passing and pray for our good and gracious God to be with and comfort all of you.
Thank you Harold. We appreciate your words of comfort and look to God to ease our pain at loosing Dad (and Mom before him), but rejoice in the thought that they are both resting easy in his arms.
One of the perks of my marriage almost 48 years ago was becoming friends (through my new wife) with Howard, Ruth and the Covin/Hall family. Ruth sang, Howard was a groomsman, young Rebecca was the flower girl and even younger Howard Fred was the ring bearer at our nuptials. In the beginning, there were many Christmas Eve celebrations, but as the older generation gradually passed away and we moved to different Texas locations, those holiday gatherings became only pleasant memories. Although we didn’t see each other often over the last years, we always knew Ruth and Howard were there and we were in touch by phone or email. When Ruth passed, it was like losing a member of our family and now our hearts are aching with the loss of Howard. I’m so thankful he was part of my life and rejoice that he and Ruth will be celebrating Christmas Eve together again.
Thank you David for reminding me of those wonderful memories. Your family and ours were joined together long ago by the strong friendship between my grandparents and Mary Jo’s parents. What a wonderful statement it is that over the years the connection between us is steadfast. You are family to Howard and I and my parents loved all of you so very much!
Ruth was a long-time member of our TOPS club in Clear Lake. She lost a lot of weight and then kept her weight off. She served as our leader and Howard served as our treasurer for a number of years. We always enjoyed having them at club. Ruth was a real spark when it came to creating programs and contests. Howard was right there to encourage her.
They were a special lovely, loving couple.
We know both of them are missed so much.
Thank you Margaret for your kind words about my parents. Mom and Dad loved TOPS and I can remember Mom detailing the events of the meetings to me and even Dad told of “keeping the books”. I was so proud of both of them for their success in weight loss as a result of this group!
