Milnor “Mel” Corley
On Friday, October 2, 2020, Milnor “Mel” Corley, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away in his home at the age of 70.
Mel was born on November 26, 1949 in Brighton, Co to Molly and Charles Corley. He attended the University of Northern Colorado on a wrestling scholarship. Mel was self-employed, running his own Air Conditioning company out of southeast Houston. On October 10, 1986, he married Liz Wilson. Together they had three children, David, Daniel, and Melinda.
Mel was passionate about the outdoors. His hobbies ranged from hunting and fishing to golfing and barbequing. Even when not participating in one of his hobbies, Mel could always be found outside, on his patio, not far from a cigar, enjoying a television program.
Mel was preceded in death by: his father, Charles; his mother, Molly; and his brother, Chuck. He is survived by: his wife, Liz; his three children, David, Melinda and Dan; his three grandchildren, Braylon, Maddox, and Whitney; his brother Marti; cherished nephews and nieces; and too many friends to list individually.
Mel’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 10th, 2020 at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church at 10:10 a.m on what would have been his 34th wedding anniversary. Mel was a simple guy and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Amputee Coalition or to St. Thomas directly.
Mel was one of the kindest, most positive people I have ever met. He appreciated simple pleasures and adored his family. He will be sorely missed by all of us who were lucky enough to call him “friend”.
I will always remember our fun times cruising the Caribbean and listening to music. Mel was so much fun to be with and I will miss him. Liz I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you all.
