Jerry Ann Bowen

It’s with a heavy heart that the family of Jerry Ann Bowen 84, a 65 year resident of Dickinson, Texas, announces her passing on Saturday September 26, 2020 at UTMB Clear Lake City Hospital, due to a sudden illness.

Jerry was born on February 4, 1936 in North Zulch, Texas, and was the only child of parents Faye and Ray Gustine.

She graduated from Brazosport High School, Freeport, Texas in 1954, as was a 1954 Tennis State Champion in Ladies Doubles.

Jerry was a very dedicated employee of the Monsanto Company, which later became Sterling Chemicals, for 40 years, until she retired in 1996.

Jerry was very active in the Dickinson community, and enjoyed playing tennis, golf, bowling, dancing, listening to music, especially if performed by the Peewee Bowen Band, playing bridge, and competing in local tournaments as a Life Master Bridge Player.

Jerry will be sorely missed by her loving husband of 19 years, Mr. Peewee Bowen, Dickinson, Texas, her son Klay W. Simpson, and daughter in law, Melissa, Johns Creek, Georgia, grandsons Klay W Simpson Jr. and Carter Simpson, stepchildren Deanna Cornell, and husband Bill Clarendon, Texas, Trish Wanek, League City, Texas, Troy Bowen, and wife Tricia, Hallsville, Texas, including several grand, and great grandchildren, along with the many dear friends who Jerry loved very much.

Our family would like to thank the caring medical staff at UTMB Clear Lake for the excellent care they provided to Jerry over the last couple of weeks.

The family, at this time, has requested a private burial ceremony, but will announce a Celebration of Life, in the near future, for Jerry, so all of Jerry’s friends are welcome to attend.

  2. I was lucky to have met Jerry several years ago at one of PeeWee’s shows.
She was so full of life.. so considerate, and very kind. She had a way about her that made me feel like she knew my whole life! She was so much fun to be with, dancing around the dance floor with that beautiful smile! She enjoyed life, her friends, and her love’s music. Her attitude was upbeat.. and contagious! It was very hard to be in a bad mood around her!
I know her family will miss her very much. I will miss her too! She was a beautiful
person and a kind soul. My prayers are for her family and her love, PeeWee.

  5. Our lives will never be the same knowing that we will never see our dear, sweet Jerry’s precious face again. To see that beautiful smile, hug her neck, hear her laugh and to dance with her and friends as Pee Wee would be performing. We were truly blessed to have known her and that we would consider her as our friend. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and especially to Pee Wee, her loving husband, and our dear friend. I know that Jerry is Dancing In The Sky with the Angels now!

  7. Jerry was such a special lady, in the purest form. She always looked impeccable and her smile lit up the room. We consider ourselves lucky to have enjoyed many, many occasions where we got to share wonderful times filled with lots of music, lots of laughs and hugs and most importantly, lots of friendship! She will be missed, but she will always hold a special place in our hearts. Pee Wee, we love you.

  8. I met Jerry through her dear friend Kay Marshall. I know that everyone who knew her commented on her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She always acted as if you were just the person she was waiting to see! Such a great personality. You only had to be with her in the room where PeeWee was playing and you knew the love she had for him. God Bless you all as you deal with life without Jerry. We were all happier having known her.

  9. Pee Wee…I have just heard about you and Jerry. I am so sorry the two of you have had to suffer so much of late. There are so many happy memories you all have undoubtedly shared through the years. Both of you have had amazing achievements to reflect on.
I have lost touch with you, but remember several years back running into ya’all
    at T-Bone’s.
My memories go back to the Chaparral Club & all the dancing and fun. Memories of Thornton, myself and our sons Lee and Keith and all the friends. We were among your early fans and I thank you for the memories.

  10. I first met Jerry when I went to work for Monsanto in 1965. She was always a very friendly and sweet lady. I have missed her ever since she retired from Sterling Chemicals in 1996. I shall always remember her as a lady who was remarkably beautiful to look at but that beauty went much deeper. She was a treasure.

  23. While I played music with Pee Wee’s band ‘way back in the 60’s, I didn’t meet Jerry until about 15 years ago. I knew from that big smile as she was walking up to meet me that she was someone special. Pee Wee and family, I send my sincerest condolences for your loss.
