Jean Elaine Deem
Jean Elaine Deem “Nene”, age 70, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2020 in Webster, TX. She was born on July 24th, 1950 in Galveston, TX. Formerly of Port Bolivar, she was a resident of Texas City and La Marque for the past 43 years.
Jean was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. Her life was dedicated to being a nurturing pillar of love and support to her beautiful family. Her values of strength and heart will forever be carried on by her children and those close to her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Georgia Lind Sr. ; sister, Jenny Hurley, and brother, Walter Lind Jr.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Clyde Robert Deem Sr.; her daughters: Candy Banda, Cindy Childs, Christie Thorp; her sons: Bobby Deem, wife Tammy, Christopher Deem, wife Jennifer; 15 grandchildren; Joshua, Kayla, Ali, Katelin, Jordan, Abi, Ethan, Kayce, Gavin, Kamran, Kayden, Masin, Kai, Chesney and Holden, 2 great granddaughters; Olivia and Leighton, her sisters: Edna Milton, Lois Parker, Grace Nolen, Linda Kurtas, husband Lee, and Alma Herod, husband Jimmy; brothers: George Lind, wife Rita, and Alan Lind.
Jean was known not only for her loving nature, sense of humor, and inquisitive mind but for her creativity. Her passion for crafting always made big family events a spectacle. Her skills trickled down to her kids who carried on the tradition of thinking outside the box. From balloon art used to decorate big dance halls, to creating the most unique costumes for her grandchildren. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports and dance; anything they did, she was their biggest fan. She was known for her kind, gentle spirit, but was a fierce defender of her family.
Jean always put family first. She made sure you were fed while hosting family dinners and get togethers. You couldn’t leave her home without her making sure you were full of food and laughter. When all the dust would finally settle and she had a moment to herself, she would sit and enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
Please join us in celebrating Jean’s life in the Chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, TX. Visitation will begin on Monday, September 21st, 2020 at 10:00am with a service at 11:30am. The burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, TX.
