Charles Raymond Strader
Charles “Chuck” Raymond Strader lived a life of unbridled energy from his birth on February 6, 1950 in Berwyn, Illinois through his disabling illness and passing September 5, 2020 in League City, Texas. Chuck was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having joined at age 17, and a graduate of Brigham Young University (BYU) at age 25. When he graduated BYU, he was recruited by seven of the eight major accounting firms. He was in Omaha, Nebraska for an interview with Union Pacific when he decided to pay a visit to the one accounting firm that had not made him an offer. He was hired by that eighth firm immediately, and relocated his family to Omaha. He found his dream job when he subsequently went to work for Dennis Circo of Precision Industries. An astute businessman, Chuck was known as “The Barracuda” among colleagues. He worked for Precision until he was no longer able to work due to disability in 2009.
Chuck had a lifelong love of cars. Those who knew him will remember that he kept his cars in pristine condition, even carrying a cloth with which to dust his car off after driving it. His garage was filled with performance tires, he drove a suped-up golf cart, and upon becoming reliant on a scooter for mobility, he insisted on a fast one. In his younger years, weekends with his children were spent at car shows. When his children were grown, he became a proud dog dad of “Hotrod” and “Harley”.
Not one for small talk, Chuck often quietly observed the goings on around him. When he spoke, his words were meaningful. He offered a balanced perspective, sage advice, and dry wit. Despite his family being spread across the country, his love for them was always evident. His sisters will remember his calm but strong demeanor, his children will remember him as a good provider, and his nieces will always remember him bringing Dilly Bars when he came to visit.
Chuck passed away at home with his wife by his side after a relentless fight with Multiple Systems Atrophy. He was preceded in death at a young age by his mother, Dorothy Mae (Dolgner) Strader; and more recently by his stepmother Sherry Elizabeth (Ivey) Strader and his daughter Carla Suzette (Strader) Price.
He is survived and deeply missed by the love of his life, wife Linda (Cheslak) Strader. He is also survived and missed by his father, Charles Raymond Strader, Sr.; his children, Scott Matthew Strader and wife Sharon, and Jason Charles Strader and wife Wendy; his sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Robert Coffeen, Cindy and Cliff Dawkins, Lisa and Bill Huber, and Leslie and Stacy Smith; his seven grandchildren, Nichole, Kaalie, and Ollie Price, and Zachary, Joshua, Jacob, and Nathan Strader, great-grandchild Kara, ten nieces and nephews, and six great-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in Omaha at a later date.
