Richard B. Parr

Richard Bennett (“Richie”) Parr died suddenly of natural causes on July 22, 2020. Richie had just turned 45 years old on July 17; he was born in Hermann Hospital in Houston. Richie lived in Clear Lake and worked as a real estate agent since 2007, building a successful and award-winning business. Richie also worked part-time at Randall’s in League City, a job he held since high school. Richie’s unexpected passing came about five months after his father, Ralph Parr, died on February 29 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother Claudia Scheske Parr of Clear Lake, an uncle, Robert B. Scheske of Gonzales, a large extended family of many cousins, Bruce Rodgers, and a lifetime group of friends. It is often said that the deceased was a good and caring person, but in Richie’s case, this is indeed a true statement. Richie had an immense capacity for friendship, and enjoyed longtime connections with friends from elementary school, high school, and from his career. He had an infectious personality and playful sense of humor. Richie loved sports especially the Houston Astros and the Texans, and all things Disney World, where he was a regular visitor. And Richie was always a proud graduate of Clear Creek High School Class of 1994, where his father served as Principal, and he loved attending Clear Creek’s football games. Richie was extremely close to his mother Claudia, who taught him the real estate business and much about living life to the fullest. Richie was devoted to his clients and worked tirelessly to help many families find their new homes. Richie was pre-deceased by his father, maternal grandparents, Fred A. and Mary Elizabeth “Goose” Scheske of Gonzales, and paternal grandparents Arthur and Olga Parr of League City. Due to the current world situation, a memorial service will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, Richie’s mother requests that contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

  3. I’ll never forget the talks Richie and I had about defunct airlines (Pan Am, Eastern, TWA, Braniff, etc.) We both shared an interest in older carriers and he liked to go to aviation trade shows and conventions and was a collector of classic airline paraphernalia. Knowing I used to work for Eastern, Ritchie would occasionally surprise me by enclosing an old EAL ticket jacket, flight schedule, or bag tag in the Christmas cards he sent around the holidays. Just a really nice, thoughtful, genuine person. I was really proud of the success he was having in real estate and I’m certain his charismatic personality was instrumental in helping people realize their dreams of owning a home. RIP Richie, and always know that you touched a lot of people and made their lives better. You will be missed by many.
