Johnny Vernon Watkins
Johnny Vernon Watkins, 65, a life long resident of Pasadena, TX passed away on June 16, 2020. Johnny was born on December 29, 1954 in Houston, TX to James and Betty Watkins. He worked for 12 years with Hines Interest in Houston, TX as a Chief Stationary Engineer. Johnny was an avid outdoorsman in his younger days, navigating the Gulf of Mexico and it’s many inlets in pursuit of kingfish, speckled trout, and redfish. His fondness for the pets in his life can never be overstated. A man of honor, determination, and great work ethic, he raised his children and grandchildren with a firm, but fair conviction.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents: sister, Wanda Lee Deatheradge, and brother, Robert Edward Watkins.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Julia Ann Watkins; daughter, Jessica Watkins; sons: James Watkins, Jason Reat, wife Heather and; grandchildren: Katie, LeAnne, Brandi, Corey, Caitlin, Truceton, Draven; and numerous great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 3p.m. to 6p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland. Funeral service will begin 11a.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home. Burial to follow at 998 Dickinson Rd in Alvin, TX.
Pallbearers serving will be: James Watkins, Jason Reat, David Ferri, Corey Masten, Daniel and Bryce Davis. Honorary Pallbearer is his closest friend, Terry Smith.
Memorial may be made to: Pasadena Animal Shelter.
Such a tremendous loss. I am still unable to believe you are gone. You will be sorely missed! Loved you with all my heart in life and in death.
