Bertha Villarreal Galindo, 91, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away March 16, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 69 years Robert M. Galindo, and her son, Robert C. Galindo.
Born in Portland, Texas, November 14, 1928 to Guadalupe and Maria de Jesus Rivas Villarreal, she eventually moved to Corpus Christi where she met and married Robert, the love of her life, June 23, 1946. Through Robert’s naval career, they travelled the world making many dear friends along the way.
They retired to Friendswood where they were both active members of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Some of Bertha’s great joys were singing with the cnurch choir, volunteering with Helping Hands, and traveling with family and friends. As her family well knows, she was always ready for a party, and loved to dance. She exhausted many a dancing partner.
She is survived by her daughters Barbara J. Hall of Lilburn, GA, and Bonny Galindo of Friendswood; granddaughter Alison King, her husband Wes, and great-grandsons Davis and Lawsen King, all of Monroe, GA; sister Christine Flores and her husband Osbaldo; sisters-in-law Benita Diotalevi and her husband Tony, Mary Lou Castillo; brother-in-law Manuel Galindo Jr., and his wife Beatrice, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Bertha’s wonderful hospice nurse, Amy, and all her caregivers at Heartis Clear Lake, with special thanks going to Matthew, Patrice, Kristi, and Sylvia. Your gentle care and compassion were beyond measure. Thank you to family and friends who comforted and supported us in Bertha’s final weeks. May God bless you all.
A funeral mass with reception to follow will take place at St. Bernadette Catholic Church at a later date.
