My prayers and deepest condolencesto Bobs family and mine. He was the best first cousin. My heartfelt sympathy.
I first met Bob back in 2010, when i was considering
becoming a ham radio operator.
He invited me to a meet and eat and introduced me to the
Club members there.
I decided to join and in short order gained my technicians
class and general class ham license. And Bob was the first
To offer congratulations. And was always willing to help or
Answer questions. A true “Elmer”.
I’ve had some Wonderful conversations with him, and really
enjoyed watching him work the radios on field day or other
Contests.
He had a great laugh and a big heart.
And was very generous.
Gonna miss him..
Gonna miss hearing him on the air.
I remember how friendly and outgoing Bob was.
Really going to miss him
Rest in Peace
Look down on our airways from above and
Keep propagation strong.

I have only been knowing Bob for about 6 months, the little bit of time we knew each other we became good friends, we talked on the radio every morning with all the guys, he was a wonderful man, and was my privilege to know him the time I did, Bob we love you, and sure gonna miss you! I want to send my condolences to bob’s wife and all his family in this time of need!

Please accept my deepest condolences to Bob’s family. As a 35 year employee and 25 year Captain with Exxon/SeaRiver, I was the recipient of Bob’s legal advice and, more importantly, his friendship. I worked with Bob over the years on a couple of internal cases, and I conferred with him several times on “hypothetical” cases. Shortly before his retirement from SeaRiver, Bob arranged to make a sea passage on the S/R WILMINGTON, which happened to be during my tenure as Master of that vessel. I thoroughly enjoyed that trip spending personal and professional time with Bob. The maritime world, as well as his family, mourns his loss.
My sincerest condolences to the family and everyone dear to Bob.
He was a friend and a mentor to me. I cherish the memories
in working various items with him at Exxon and SeaRiver.
Captain John A. Mazza
So very sorry for your loss and my deepest sympathy to the entire family.
Mr. Bob will be missed..I enjoyed talking to him on the radio, and in person during our visits. His ham shack is one of the neatest that I ever saw, lots of work put into that for sure.
Rest in peace with God.
I met Robert in 2014 when he first began to be a customer of ours. He truly loved life and HAM radio. He would drive the 6 hour drive to our store and nearby hamfests, to spend time with all of us talking and visiting and always smiling. He was a kind hearted caring man. He will truly be missed. On behalf of Main Trading Company, we send our our most deepest condolences in this difficult time. We regret not being able to attend his service.
Tammy and the entire Main Trading Company crew
I’ve known Bob as my very closest friend ever since we both enrolled in college at what is now Lamar University in Beaumont. For 65 years, Bob and I always were two friends who may not have seen each other face-to-face for perhaps years; but when we did, everything we knew, did, or thought started where we left off, with no questions asked. We knew what each other thought about almost everything; we were pretty much complete complements (look it up) of each other. I’ll miss him horribly, because I always knew he’d be right there if I needed him to be. Now he’s gone.
I have know Bob and Mary a number of years through ham radio and on trips, ham fest and eat and greets. he was the one we all turned to for advise on most anything, I will miss bob terribly, he was a special friend. my deepest sympathy to Mary and family.
Mary,
Thanks for calling me today. I loved Bobby the first day I met him at the Newman Club, when we were in college. The friends I made at the Newman Club were some of the best people I’ve ever met, and Bobby was the best of the best!!! Even though we haven’t seen each other over the years, you and Bobby are always in my heart!!! Bobby and you were the perfect match, and I’ve loved you both ever since we got together at the Newman Club!! If you have a computer, send me your Email address, and let’s get in touch. If you ever get down this way, please call us and come and see us, and Linda and I will keep in touch with you. If we ever get a chance to get come to Houston, we will definitely give you a call, and try to see you. I’ve been so depressed this year since my Brother passed, and now knowing Bobby is gone, it really breaks my heart.
I met Bob at Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas, and he has been one of my best friends ever. He was one of the greatest guys I’ve ever known!!! We liked the same things and thought the same. He later moved to Houston, and we’ve only seen each other about two or three times over the years, but he has always been in my heart!!! Just knowing he’s gone from this world, and knowing I’ll never see him til I’m on the other side, depresses me. I hope he and I can rekindle our friendship in Heaven. My condolences to his wonderful Wife and family!!!!!
Though I never knew him to use it Robert, was truly the definition of Esquire. He was fair, generous, kind, selfless and encouraging to all he came across. He was a true gentleman with a kind word and quick smile.
Bob is one of those unique individuals that commands respect not through demands, but through his actions, words, and deeds and even in his passing that cannot be taken away from him. As the President, of PARC, and after stepping down, he was always instrumental in organizing and facilitating club activities, he was always front and center.
If a fellow Amateur Radio operator had issues with antennas or radios he was always there to help with his knowledge and expertise to resolve the problems.
Outside of the clubs he always made himself available to anyone that needed a friend to talk to and he would offer up advice and encouragements, or just listen.
His passing is a very sad and heart aching time for the Amateur Radio community as a whole, and he will be greatly missed by all. It saddens me knowing that the future generations will not get the same honor and privilege that we have in just knowing this great man.
You could not ask for a better mentor or friend than Robert Nicholas.

Bob’s passing is such a shock! He was definitely one of the positive influencers for me in Ham Radio ! I met Bob in 2006 when I attended a PARC meeting to see if I wanted to be a HAM radio operator. He later defended me after i received an “OO” notice a few months later, ( that I deserved) I might have gotten out of the hobby then, if it was for him defending me. My favorite HAM radio memory was Bob teaching me how to do “DX” at a field day with his “Go Box” which was an IC7000 and his new Transworld antenna! Man, was I Hooked! I went and upgraded to General and bought a TS 2000 and a MFJ-269! I had also seen – because Of Bob, how well the analyzer worked, helping Bill K5CSB use Bob’s analyzer to make J-Poles! Bob was extremely generous with new HAMs like me! I bought his 8900R and just this summer before he knew is cancer was back, bought his Valiant.
Bob was always helping new HAMs and I remember taking notes when he gave CW class on Sunday nights on the Alvin 210 machine. I’ll miss Bob’s refreshing laugh and his great advice he always had for other HAMs in the air. ‘73 Bob
Praying For Mary and her family God Bless you all

Bob was an amateur radio friend of mine of many years. I looked forward to seeing Bob at our functions and when visiting over at friend’s. I will surely miss him.
I met Mr. Bob 5 or 6 years ago, attending meetings with my dad and would listen to “the guys” talk when they would meet for breakfast or lunch. He was always nice to me even as a very socially awkward young teenager, he never made me feel like I was unwelcome at any event or meeting. Mr. Bob was one of the men who encouraged me to get my HAM license and he was one of the first to congratulate me once I did. I will miss his stories and knowledge.
Mrs. Mary please know how much Mr. Bob was loved by all and will truly be missed. Praying that the love you shared can ease the pain that no words can.

I met Bob when I came to check out a Pearland Amateur Radio Club meeting and joined afterwards. He was the president for a good many years and I consider him a patriarch of the group. He always kept up with any radio contests going on and intimately involved with ARRL Field Day every year. He was a wealth of radio knowledge and kept the club in check with any legal documents given his background. When he came came to me at the Christmas Party in 2017 and told me he wanted me to take over as President so he could focus on his medical issues, I was apprehensive since I didn’t see myself as a leader but I didn’t want to let him down. He wasn’t always able to make the club meetings but I was always happy to see him when he could attend.
Prayers to Mary and family.
We will miss you, Bob. I’m grateful for the time we got to spend with you.

Bob’s contagious laugh will be missed by many.
Rest in peace, old friend.
My sincerest condolences to Mary and all of Bob’s family on his passing. Bob was a good friend and excellent counselor to all in the Exxon and Seariver maritime operations. He was particularly helpful to me as I transition from Exxon’s international business to the US arena. Bob was always very generous with his time and helped many through some difficult times in the early and mid 1990’s. We will keep Bob and his family in our prayers. Gus elmer
I was saddened to learn of Bob’s passing and send my prayers and heartfelt sympathy to Mary and family. Bob was the cornerstone of the Seariver Law Department. He brought a wealth of knowledge, provided sage advice, and was a mentor, teacher and friend to every person in the department. I have fond memories of sailing with Bob on the “Elissa”, and will remember him whenever I see the ship.
My condolences to Mary and the rest of Bob’s family on his passing. Bob was always available to provide great commercial guidance during his years at Exxon. A pleasure to be around and even in tough situations. I’m sure he will be greatly missed. I hope he will Rest In Peace. Again, I say thanks, Bob
My mornings for many years have started with a conversation with Bob K5HLZ on the radio. We have talked about everything from hog hunting to pickle ball. I have attended Ham Coms, eating meetings and last summer a tour of the WW II museum in New Orleans with him. When we needed help with our radio equipment Bob was there to help. He was a good friend and i will miss him.
As Cody N5MIY would say “Good Bye, Good Luck and may the Good Lord take a liking
to you”.

‘Uncle’ Bob was a jewel of a man and the dearest of friends. I’ll treasure many memories of him and the hours, even days, we spent together. Computers, ham radio from home antenna projects to the numerous club activities he lead. Meals with family and friends. He had favorites far and wide but was willing to explore the new on the spur of the moment. Camping trips to conventions and excursions to far-flung destinations to acquire the cumbersome ‘glow-in-the-dark’ older tube radios he loved. Generous beyond measure. Always willing to help the newcomer in any way possible. A natural ambassador, diplomat and leader. A consummate, honorable professional. A trove of delightful tales and an eager listener for others’. My deepest expression of sympathy to Mary and his family. I thank them for their sharing such a remarkable soul with me. My life, which ‘Uncle’ Bob so profoundly and beautifully touched, can never be the same.
Kindly accept my condolences on your loss. The world is a lesser place without Bob.
I met and got to Know Bob while at Exxon. And later worked with Bob after we had left Exxon. I was fortunate to have worked on several projects with Bob and learned from his thoughts and guidance. He was truly a good man. It was a pleasure to have known and worked with him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Mr. Robert was a
A fine man, a great friend and an inspiration to me personally.
I bought “ Kildalton” from Mr. Robert and Miss Mary close to two years ago.
He will truly be missed but the way he was has left me with great memories. I visited them quit a few times and felt blessed to be in their home. Mr. Robert is and always Will be a great memory for us. Sail on Mr. Robert, fair winds and smooth seas for you my friend.

I am so sadden to hear of the loss of Bob, today. Mark Joye and I along with many others worked together at BakerHostetler for several years. He was a good guy and we enjoyed his stories. There was never any doubt that he loved the Lord and I know he is working on some Foreign Trade Zone or drawback issue with God. Mary, he was a jewel and a fine gentleman. I am so sorry for your loss.
Betty Frazier
All of us at BakerHostetler convey our heartfelt condolences to Mary and the rest of Bob’s family. Bob was a wonderful colleague and a great friend. We will miss him.
I am so sorry to learn about Bob’s passing. The Texas Bar Journal this month printed the sad news. My husband and I knew and loved Bob. He introduced us. Bob loved admiralty law and he loved sailing, for sure. Most of all he loved his family and his faith. What a very special, wonderful person. My heart goes out to Mary, daughters Lisa and Elana, and the entire family. May they find comfort in their memories.
