Charles McCormack
Charles D. McCormack, age 83, passed away on December 13, 2019 in League City, Texas. He was born on January 10, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas to Clide and Beatrice McCormack. He married Loretta Bilbrey on June 8, 1963.
Charles began working at his father’s cotton gin at an early age and by the time he was sixteen years old, was in charge of the daily activities at the gin. In May 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for three years with the 582nd Aircraft Maintenance Company, much of that time in France. Following his active duty, Charles served in the Inactive Reserve for another three years. Charles was a quiet man who loved the Lord and brought his family up in church. He was truly the hands and feet of Christ as he ministered to many in need. He visited the sick and homebound, cared for the widows, drove teens to concerts and conferences, and drove numerous mission teams to their destinations. Charles served on various committees including Van, Building and Grounds, and Money Counters at Jackson Avenue Baptist Church in Lovington, NM, and actively volunteered his time whenever it was needed. He was ordained as a Deacon on February 2, 2003. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Clide and Beatrice McCormack.
Charles is survived by his wife, Loretta, of 56 years; three daughters, Meri Bea Bartholomew and husband Mark of League City, Texas; Diana Cooper and husband Gary of Spring, Texas; and Lori Burke and husband Ronnie of League City, Texas. Charles is also survived by one brother, Eldon McCormack and wife Linda of Bledsoe, Texas; and one sister, Saundra Fulcher of Belen, New Mexico; nine grandchildren: Sarah Villarreal and husband Sonny; Jessica Perkins and husband Jarrett; Michael Pennington and wife Desiree; Paige Bombardier and husband Shane; Alaina Brown and husband Joey; Brooke Bartholomew, David Cooper, Elizabeth Cooper, Trey Burke, and six great-grandchildren: Soleil, Stellan, Olive, Eleanor, Abigail, and Christina.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Nassau Bay Baptist Church, 18131 Nassau Bay Dr.; Houston, TX 77058. The funeral home’s preferred florist is Kemah Flowers & Company, 281-532-6933. Donations may be made to Clear Lake Baptist Food Pantry at 15700 Space Center Blvd; Houston, TX 77062.
