Victoria “Vickie” Medina
Victoria “Vickie” Medina, 63, of Texas City, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, in Galveston. Victoria was born May 24, 1951, in Munich, Germany, to Julian and Helen Ward. Vickie was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. Vickie is preceded in death by her parents. Vickie is survived by her husband, Jimmy Medina; one brother: Michael J. Ward and Anna Maria; one sister: Carol Soare; two nieces: Cathy Sherman and Tammy Milner; two nephews: Michael Stanton and Denver Booker; four brother-in-laws: Robert Medina and Elisa, Danny Medina, Henry Medina, Rudy Medina and Lucy; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregivers Patty Moore and De De Medina Serda. A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2014, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10 2014 at the funeral home, with Pastor Trent Henderson. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, in Dickinson, Texas.
Our prayers go to all the family members and especially her husband Jimmy who loved her dearly for so many years. Anna and I will never forget her as she brought great joy to all our lives.

Vicky was my favorite Aunt. I always thought of her as the brilliant one, she could talk to me about any subject and sound like an expert, this didn’t change as I grew up – even 2 weeks ago she still sounded brilliant. She was a self-taught woman who loved learning, discussing what she learned, and hearing what we thought about it. I hadn’t seen her in recent years, but I thought about her often and I would wonder what she would think of this or that. I’m sure that wherever she is right now there is a great library and she is enjoying it. I love you Vicky, thank you for being you.

I will always remember the fun Vicki and I had as kids trying to find something to do when we went to visit my grandmother. Since we were only 5 years apart in age we were more like sisters during those summers than aunt and niece. She was a beautiful person with an incredible mind. There is no telling how far she could have gone but apparently that wasn’t in the stars for her. I will miss her terribly. I’ve had so many conversations with her in my head all these years. She will be missed by so many. We love you Vicki!
