Daniel “Dan” Ray Barnett
Daniel “Dan” Ray Barnett, age of 62 passed peacefully on May 24, 2019 with his wife by his side.
He was born Oct. 25, 1956 in Dayton Ohio, to Harry “Delbert” and Leona “Jean” Barnett. He attended Springboro High School in Ohio. Dan worked with Harness horses with his mother and stepfather up and down the east coast. Where he eventually owned, trained and raced several of his own horses.
Dan moved to Texas in 1981, he worked for Continental Coffee. This is where he met his wife of 32 years. Received his BA in Instrumentation at San Jacinto College and went to work for Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Houston for over 24 years, he retired from work but not from life.
He was a rare combination of the love of life and a firm understanding of what was important – the simplicity of living with those you love. All who have encounter Dans kindness, generous spirit and outgoing personality will never forget him. His legacy will live on in all our hearts and memories of the time we spent with him.
Spending family time, cooking out, when a helping hand was needed you could count on Dan. Restoring 3 cars in his earlier years with the neighbors he enjoyed and wanted to pick it up again. They say it takes a lot of balls to golf, but Dan only needed one, he was that good and that was his number 1 passion. Traveling with his wife Mary, reading, putty in his garage was all his favorite things. He loved his dog Toby and Toby loved him. He was a Big Ohio State football fan – Go Buckeyes!
His beautiful life will forever be cherished by his wife, Mary Barnett; son, Joshua Jewell, wife Dina; sister, Karen Hoover of Peachtree City Ga.; nieces: Staci Downey of Statham Ga. and Angela Quirk of Dacula Ga. and mother-in-law, Mary Sima.
Please join the Celebration of his life on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 3:00 pm, in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 E. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581.

Mary I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Dan was a good neighbor and I enjoyed playing lots of golf with him. He will be missed by all. He was always eager to help with projects. I remember breaking glass with Don and Dan as we replace the windows in our three houses. He was a good handyman. Take care of yourself during this time of sorrow. Best wishes James & Kathy O’Neal.
Prayers for your family. I knew Dan from the brewery. He was always smiling and saying hello. I saw him in HEB a few times when he was working. He told me it was his golf money. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Vic and I want to extend our condolences and love to Danny’s whole family. We loved him so . He will be missed but will forever live in our hearts. Vic and Vicki
Mrs. Barnett I’m so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know dan personally. Josh spoke of him quite often. Dan was always ready at a moments notice to lend a helping hand. I will pray for you and your family.
The measure of life after all is not it’s duration but it’s donation.
To the Barnett family. I am sorry for your loss and am praying for your family. EVERYTHING in the descriptions of his life are so true as to the way I knew Dan. He always had a great smile on his face. He is definitely missed at the brewery. RIP Dan!
