Bessie Marie McBee
Bessie Marie McBee, 98, went to live with her Heavenly Father on May 17, 2014 in San Antonio, TX.
She was born on February 25, 1916 in Houston, TX to parents John Harmon Dobbin and Olive Pearl Kozlak Dobbin.
Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clyde McBee, sister Jane Dobbin Klyng, daughter Brenda J. McBee Petit and grandson Michael E. Petit.
Educated in Houston and graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1934, and then Massey Business College in 1935, there was always a soft spot in her heart and many stories about Houston.
In the summer of 1935 the family moved to Texas City, TX where her father was employed as a contractor for the building of the Texas City Seawall. Texas City is where she met and married Clyde McBee in 1938. Later in 1957 they purchased a cottage-style home in La Marque which remained her residence until early 2012 when she moved to San Antonio, TX to live with her son and daughter-in-law.
After working for many years in the office of Schreiber & Miller Furniture Store in La Marque she then worked for La Marque Independent School District where she retired in 1978.
Bessie is survived by her son John Robert McBee (Bobby) and wife Shelley of San Antonio, TX, Granddaughter Melinda Petit Mcilveen and husband Brian of Friendswood, TX, sister Isabel Reznicek (Sue) of La Marque and nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly.
Bessie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of La Marque until her move to San Antonio.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 12:00 noon to 2:00PM at Crowder’s Funeral Home in La Marque, TX. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, with Pastor Chris Norton, officiating. Interment will follow for immediate family only at Forest Park East in Webster, TX.
In lieu of flowers it is suggested memorial donations be made to the: First United Methodist Church of La Marque, 1825 Howell, La Marque, TX 77568.
Mrs. McBee was one of my grandmother’s dearest friends, and I have fond memories of when she was at my grandmother’s house. Our condolences to your family. May Bessie rest in peace, and may her memory be eternal.
