“Susie/Chuta” Jesusa Martinez Melchor, 88, thirty five year resident of San Leon, Texas, passed away April 21, 2014. She was born February 25, 1926 in Gonzales, Texas to parents Lorenzo and Eloisa Martinez. She was a member of Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson, Texas. She was previously employed as a housekeeper at UTMB, and she had also worked as a waitress at Hill’s Restaurant and Loma Linda Café in Galveston. She was preceded in death by Preciliano E. Melchor and Francisco Anzaldua. She is survived by her daughter, “Becky” Rebecca M. Melchor; son, Sonny Melchor; sister-in-law, Angelina Martinez; grandchildren, John M. Rodriguez, Gabriel Melchor, Andy M. Rodriguez, Marcos Melchor, David Melchor, and Liana M. Rodriguez; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church with a Rosary and Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church, 300 FM 517 East in Dickinson.
