Dr. Louis J. Croce
Louis J. Croce, longtime resident of Taylor Lake Village, Texas, died Sunday, August 12, 2018. Dr. Croce was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 17, 1921. After serving as a Communications Officer during WWII, he received a BS degree from St. John’s University and a PhD from New York University. Dr. Croce was the Director of Research for Petro-Tex Chemical Corporation and Tenneco Oil Company P&M for many years. He held over 100 US and Foreign patents. His scientific society memberships included the Roger Bacon Honor Society, Catalysis Society, New York Academy of Science, Southwest Science Forum (past President), Emeritus member of American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi Honor Society. His biography is included in American Men and Women of Science, Leaders in American Science, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and International Directory.
Dr. Croce was a former council member of Taylor Lake Village and coordinated the flood control insurance coverage for Timber Cove subdivision. He was a member of Baywood Country Club for many years, and a proud member of the Baywood Bandits.
Dr. Croce was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Muir Croce. He is survived by daughter Jean Croce Demro, husband James Demro; son James Croce, wife Gwendolyn Roby Croce; their children Craig Louis Croce and wife Emily Reutinger Croce and daughter Marjorie Grace; Steven Michael Croce; Cristin Ann Vij and husband Rohan Vij.
