Some of my fondest moments growing up was being with some or all of my cousins at Hughes family gatherings. I was one of the “older” cousins and while Janice was of the “younger” set we all had good times together doing all those things cousins typically do together, being the children of our mom or dad’s Hughes lineage.
I will always remember Janice as that perky cousin with a beautiful smile, boundless energy, continually active and always full of life. When she came to North Carolina in 2010 with Pam in Uncle Ben’s last days and ultimately to take him home for his final resting next to Aunt Margery, she still had that perkiness and love of life, despite her health challenges. Despite all of the difficulty and sadness during that time, she still had that beautiful smile.
While geography, careers and raising families have prevented us from being as close as we were during our youth, my memories of Janice during those early years, our childhood roots, will still live on. We will all miss this very special, unique person with a beautiful smile – each in our own way.
I just found out of her passing. She was such a kind person. She was my fathers, brothers, sons wife. May she rest in peace.
