  2. It feels surreal to be commenting on such a forum, but with tears stinging my eyes and streaming down my face, reality slowly sets in as I try to grasp the fact that my uncle, Bubbie, is physically gone. Uncle…that title does not adequately represent what he meant to me. Growing up as a kid, I viewed both of my uncles, Bubbie and Steve, as second dads (next to my step-father, Todd, who was and will always be my dad). Our family lost Steve on July 7th, 2012, unexpectedly; Bubbie’s unforeseen departure was just as abrupt. Losing a loved one is painful in itself, but there is an added level of heartache when you are blindsided by it. I realize that none of us ever truly know when our time on earth in a physical capacity is complete; however, I’m sure I can speak for many when I say one can formulate a better sense of peace, closure, and understanding when one’s passing is, to some degree, anticipated. Unfortunately, this was not the case with my uncle. Our family is in an excruciating amount of pain. My heart goes out to his kids, Guy and Stevie (my cousins, but better described as the brother and second sister I never had), as well as his grandbabies, Caylee, Camden, and Brodee, whom were ALL his pride and joy. Bubbie’s eyes lit up and beamed with an unmatched sense of love and pride when he talked to or about all five of them. I will do my part to keep his memory and spirit alive. Thank you for everything, Bubz. I love you and miss you so much. I’ll always cherish the memories. Give Memaw, Granddaddy, and Steve a big ol’ hug and kiss for me, and tell them I love them too.

    Love always,
    “Biddy”

P.s. In true Bubbie fashion, I’ll end this with how he ended most of his conversations: “LAAATTTEEERRR!!!”
