Doris C. Stinnett
Doris C. Stinnett, 97, went to be with her Lord on March 20, 2018. Doris was born Doris Lillian Callihan in Baton Rouge, LA on March 9, 1921 to James Henry and Mary Lena Callihan.
Doris moved to Houston and graduated high school at Sam Houston High. As a young adult, she worked at Mosher Steel Company where she met her husband, Porter Stinnett. Porter would drive much out of his way to offer the walking Doris a ride to work. He eventually gave up this pretense and starting driving to her home to pick her up for work. Together they raised a family and she worked until her retirement in Wieners’ administrative offices. For many years after retirement, Doris was a caregiver for her mother and several siblings.
Doris was devoted to her Lord and was a long-time member of her churches, Riverside Methodist and Clearlake Methodist. She enjoyed golf and spending time with her large family.
Doris is survived by her son Cary; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; grandchildren: Sky, Cody, Emily, Mikayla and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is reunited with her husband of more than 60 years, Porter. She is preceded in death by her son, Larry; parents, James and Mary; siblings: Hoyle, Thelma, Anna, Willie, Bessie, Jessie, Sam and Henry; nephews: Danny and Dennis.
Memorial service will begin 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland with a reception to follow.
My condolences to the family. May you find comfort in God’s word the Bible at Revelation 21:3,4.
