Mary Ellen Oldham Wilcox
Mary Ellen Oldham Wilcox, 80 of Alvin, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Webster, Texas.
Mary Ellen was born May 16, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Glen Curtis Oldham and Cecilia Luick Oldham.
After high school, Mary Ellen attended Drake University in Des Moines and studied economics where she met John Wilcox who she married in 1957. She went on to business ownership in a family owned store, Wilcox Sporting Goods in Webster City, Iowa. After relocating with her family in 1979, to Dickinson, Texas, she worked in store management at Monterrey House in Dickinson and Office Max in Houston.
In 2001, she was a kidney transplant recipient.
Mary Ellen cared for five children; her grandchildren; and a number of dogs and cats. She was an intellectually passionate person with interests in history, classical mythology, and film. She was a garden fresh cook and her favorite color was baby blue.
Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John “Jack” Wilcox.
Mary Ellen is survived by her daughters, Susan Wilcox, Janet Oldenkamp and Ann Wilcox and her sons, John and James Wilcox, her sister, Sarah Graves, her grandchildren John Wilcox, Jacquelin Sabin, Kasey Dugan, Maxwell Sabin, Ashton Bailey, Taylor Howard, Harrison Sabin, Lacey Wilcox and her great grandchildren Faith Wilcox, Serenity Wilcox, Kaiya Wilcox, Elan Cohn, Aaron Bernal, Allison Clebosky.
A service for Mary Ellen will be held at a later date.

My Grandmother was the greatest person in the world to me. If not for her many people in our family wouldnt be the happy successful people they are today. Her memory will live on in our hearts. She will be missed by many.

I’m so sorry, I just found out today.I worked with Mary at Monterrey House for several years. She was a good friend to me and then I moved away. She was always so nice and treated me like family. She was always making me laugh. My prayers go out to all of the family. I know she will be really missed. Rest in peace Mary.
