SHIRLEY “HANK” MAE LITZINGER (nee HORNER)
Shirley Mae Litzinger, known by friends and family as Hank, 89, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, August 3, 2017, in the care of her son, Eric (Deborah) Litzinger, in League City, Texas. She was born on October 28, 1927, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Jacob Clyde and Freda Elizabeth Himes Horner.
Shirley graduated from Dale High School in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in the class of 1945. After graduating, Shirley worked at the Tribune-Democrat newspaper in the same town. On December 10th, 1949 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, the late Charles Basil (C.B.) Litzinger III in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Shirley and C.B. lived in many locations across the country, as they raised their family of five. They enjoyed traveling the world, including visits to Europe and South America. She enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and bridge and she was well known for her sense of style and her love of wearing hats. No matter the situations encountered in life, she always had a positive and refreshing outlook that she shared with others. She was supportive of her children, including donating a kidney to her son Karl, a juvenile diabetic, at the age of 70. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her son David Litzinger of Houston, Texas, daughter Kristin (Randy) Jackson of Cotton, Minnesota, son Eric (Deborah) Litzinger of League City, Texas, and daughter Heidi (James) Rapp of Geneva, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Jessica (Peter) Croshaw, Amanda (Steven) Prochaska, Julianne (Paul) Kipple, Katherine (Sean) Richards, C.B. (Cathy) Litzinger IV, Alex Marmitt, Taylor Marmitt, Nicholas Marmitt, Christina Anderson, Katie (Bryan) Balk; 16 great grandchildren; and her sister, Audrey (late David) Tollis of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, niece Pamela (William) Peterson-Stefanka of Osterburg, Pennsylvania (daughters Amy and Lori) and nephew Lonnie (Jennifer) Peterson (son Frank) of Memphis, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Clyde Horner, her mother, Freda Elizabeth Himes Horner, her husband C.B. Litzinger III (1928-1986), and her son Karl Fredrick Litzinger (1957-2004).
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Fly with the angels Hank. Although we will miss you terribly, we are at peace knowing that you are in the arms of the Lord and C.B. Rest in peace lovely lady.

A beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady. I’ll always remember her laugh! And the epic Christmas parties in Carol Stream! She was the consummate hostess.
What an amazing legacy she and CB left behind in their children. May God bless her and all of you wonderful Litzingers.
Hank , I just found out about your passing to the other side, I lost track of Kris and everybody and not many were still in Illinois when I went home. You were one of my favorite moms always there for us kids. miss you. go look up my brother and have a beer. cheers always love ya
