Julia Maurece Bryant Owens (89) of Hitchcock, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Camden, Texas to Robert Lawrence and Zeffie Mal Bryant on February 29, 1928. Graduating from Chester High School and moving to Galveston in 1944. She was a long time Galveston County resident, spending her summers in Alaska for the past 35 years.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband of 51 years; Garlan Lee Owens, two sisters, one brother and a daughter.

Julia is survived by her sons; Oliver Temple McLain, Jr. and Phillip Lawrence McLain, daughters; Deborah Lee Owens Holland, and Saundra Kay Pitman, granddaughters; Angela Kay Merrell, Sheila Renee Merrell, Andrea Brooke Doyle, and Alichia Stephenson, grandsons; Timothy Christian McLain, and Oliver Byron McLain, and 25 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Julia’s life will be held on July 9, 2017 at 3:00pm at VFW Post #5400 (11230 Highway 6, Santa Fe, Texas).
