Karen Holbrook Butler
It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Holbrook Butler announces her passing after a 15 year battle with Multiple Myeloma, on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the age of 67 years. Karen was born in Black Oak, Arkansas to Selah Thomas and Edna Townsley Holbrook. Karen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Selah Townsley Raposa and Panda Holbrook Butler, as a beautiful and courageous soul that displayed strength beyond her physical capacity in the face of a debilitating disease. Karen will remain forever in the heart of her only grandchild, Daniel Holbrook Butler. Karen will also be remembered as a dedicated high school teacher who inspired and led by example for all who knew her. Karen was predeceased by her brothers, Ronny Holbrook, Charles Holbrook, Buddy Holbrook, and Sonny Holbrook.
A Funeral Service in memory of Karen will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., at the Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 E. Main Street in League City, TX, 77573. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Karen to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (https://www.themmrf.org/).
Condolences to both you girls. Your Mom will be missed by her many friends. I know how sad you are now, but just know that there are lots of us praying for you.
Karen was a good neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed. May God bless and keep her family at this trying time.
My prayer is for each of you to find comfort in this time of such grief. Karen was one of the first persons I met at Channelview High School. She was always encouraging and ready to support her students in every way. God bless your sweet family with precious memories and grace as you go through these days.

Thank you so much for your kind words about my mother. I know all of you at CHS held a special place in her heart.
When she spoke, others listened. One woman had on a Cancer Sucks t-shirt in Walmart. She asked the woman if she prayed for the victim of cancer. The woman answered that she was growing weary. Karen responded, “my prayers work.” The woman gave Karen the name she was praying for and I am sure Karen prayed for her.
