Linda Diane Thoren
Linda Diane Thoren, born August 22, 1948 in Birmingham, AL, departed this earth peacefully on May 31, 2017 after a short illness. She is survived in life by parents, Jewel and Clyde Jones and brother-in-law, Lamar Flanagan, all of League City, TX, niece, Stephanie Scruggs of Carrollton, TX and nephew, Stephen Scruggs of Omaha, NE. Diane is preceded in death by sister, Judy Flanagan of League City, TX and former husband, Paul Thoren of Ely, MN.
Diane enjoyed her 31-years of civil service at NASA Johnson Space Center, where she was senior secretary to five successive program managers of the Space Shuttle Program Office, receiving several Director Commendation awards. She later served as the contracting officer’s representative for the Center’s Administrative Support Services Contract before retiring on December 31, 2016. At her Dickinson, TX home, Diane loved to craft beautiful quilts for friends & family and to care for her special Yorkshire Terrier companion, “Winston”.

Diane was a very intelligent, caring person and I’ll miss her a great deal . In the 30yrs I knew her she was always very kind to me. My thoughts are with my step siblings, Stephen and Stephanie, Clyde and Jewel, my Father, and her departed sister Judy. Diane was someone that brought nothing but happiness to me in life and that is the way I’ll remember her. I couldn’t have hoped for a better family to spend my life with.
Travis & family. I worked with Diane at the Dallas Police Department. That was before she went to work at NASA. I loved her and appreciated her friendship. My sincere condolences…since I just now found her obituary.
Diane will be missed by all who knew her! She was a very sweet, caring, hard working, and personable person! May she Rest In Peace in Heaven with her sweet sister Judy!
Diane was a most delightful person, always with a wonderful smile that charmed all who were so fortunate to know her. She was smart, caring, thoughtful, compassionate and a great friend to all of us. Diane, I will miss you greatly! You have taken a piece of my heart with you.
I’m very sad to hear of the Diane’s passing. She was the first person I worked with at NASA in 2001. I will always be greatful for her help and patience. She helped me understand the world of NASA acronyms. Rest in Heavenly Peace.
