James Calvin Vercher, 81, of Pearland, passed away February 16, 2014.

He was born June 19, 1932 in Crandall, Texas to Joseph and Juanita Vercher. James proudly served our country in the Texas Air National Guard and retired as Chief Master Sergeant with 39 years of service. James attended Zion Lutheran Church in Pasadena and has lived in Pearland for 1 ½ years and is formally of Prophetstown, Illinois.

James is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tommy Joe Vercher.

James is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Elaine K. Vercher; daughers, Sheri Keyes and Dawn Oliver; sons, Steven Keyes, David H. Schuett and his wife Barbara Burwell, Brian Schuett and his wife Becky, Bruce Schuett and his wife Pamela Tokerud; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 5050 East Sam Houston Parkway South, Pasadena, Texas 77505 with Pastor Dave Sawhill officiating. Graveside services will follow at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made in James’s name to Wounded Warriors.
