My favorite Nana-ism:
Nana joined my annual Ornament Exchange party. On this particular year, she and my co-worker battled over one specific ornament. Nana stole it until it was frozen. She won! She was so happy, and she really rubbed it in with my co-worker. Then, Nana excused herself for the restroom. And my co-worker instantly excused herself… with Nana’s ornament! She picked it up, grabbed her purse, and walked out of the house. Everyone cracked up! …Until the laughter began to die down and she still hadn’t returned. She’s coming back, right????
Nana returned from the restroom and noticed immediately what… and who… was missing. She turned 50 shades of red. I, being ever the faithful granddaughter, completely ratted out my co-worker, pointing to the door and exclaiming “She took it! And then she left!!!”
Thankfully, my co-worker returned and handed Nana her ornament, along with some poignant message about gloating. As for Nana, I believe that was the last of those parties that she attended!!!
Nana, I am so thankful to know where you are, with whom you are reunited, and the mansion built upon golden streets in which you now reside, complete with a Belle-sized library that fills your heart’s content. I wonder what ornaments adorn you now?
