Autman “Country” J. Perry, Jr.
Autman “Country” J. Perry, Jr., 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2017. Country was born July 10, 1930 to Autman and Cleo Perry in Winnsboro, Texas.
He served in both the US Army and US Coast Guard. Country worked for Henckel Oil Company, Falstaff Brewery in Galveston and finally retired from Amoco Chemical in Texas City. He was a charter member of the Hitchcock Fire Department and lifetime member of VFW Post 5400.
Country is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vergie Perry, and sister Virginia Click.
He is survived by three daughters: Nancy Smith and husband Garry, Gayle Moore and husband Frank, Janet Thompson and husband Gary; two sons: Autman “Tim” Perry and wife Martha and Keith Perry; two sisters: Ronnell Wainscott and Myrna Jean Guidry and husband Woody; seven grandchildren: Michael Thompson, Craig Smith, Stephen Smith, Jennifer Donovan, Christopher Smith, Keith Moore and Elizabeth Owens; and numerous great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, April 14, 2017 at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the funeral home, with Rev. Katharine Redpath officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, Hitchcock, Texas. Memorials can be donated to Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department and/or charity of your choice.
