Gloria R. Longnecker
Passed away suddenly on March 18, 2017. She was born on November 4, 1945 to Bill and Theresa Ramirez in the Houston Heights. She was a lifelong Houston resident and attended Hamilton Jr. High and Reagan High School. While in Junior High she proudly served as a member of the Hamilton Indians drill team and in High School she was a member of the Reagan Redcoats. She remained engaged in Reagan High School activities, including the reunion planning committees, until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill Ramirez Jr. and Joel Ramirez. She is survived by her sons, Devery Mooneyham and wife Katte, John Longnecker Jr. and wife Collette, daughter Christi Courson, brothers Mitchell, Paul, and sister, Janet. Gloria also had eight Grandchildren Jake, Chris, Kayla, Kris, Stephanie, Sarah, Cody, and Cameron and 6 great grandchildren.
Gloria served on the Board of Directors for the Southern Pacific Credit Union, a position she dearly loved. Gloria also enjoyed traveling to listen to her favorite band, the Grateful Geezers, as well as B.J. Thomas concerts. She proudly remembers B.J. Thomas as a childhood friend. Gloria was a lifelong collector of Windberg paintings and had assembled a sizeable collection of his works. If he had a show in the area, she was there and was on a first name basis with the artist. She was such an avid collector, his gallery would often refer calls to her when specific works were requested that were out of print. Gloria enjoyed the scenery of the Texas Hill Country and traveled there often when her health allowed.
Gloria was a devoted, loving Mother, grandmother, and sister, whose strength in the face of her illness, was admired. She never complained about her disability or the pain she was in.
The family wishes to thank long time friends, Ernest and Rose Valdez for helping her with her errands, Liz Barrow who spoke to her everyday, and Tim Adams for helping her with her SPCO duties.
Gloria was very loved and will be missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas.

Gloria was my favorite niece. She was full of life regardless of her physical disabilities and other life changing events that challenged her. She gave new meaning to “Cowboy/girl-up.” She did it and did it well. We enjoyed many long telephone conversations. For that matter there was never a short conversation. As she traveled with her credit union responsibilities we had the opportunity to visit on several occasions when in southwest Texas. She will be missed. RIP
Gloria, my dearest friend, my best friend. Your were the best friend anyone could ever have. Words cannot express how much I miss you. You knew all my secrets, my stories about my life and my family, my job. You were such a good listener; you listened to my complaints about this or that, my aches and pain, yet with all your health problems and limitations, you never complained; not once; ever. You had so many plans for living; you never planned on leaving. It’s going to be hard not being able to call and say “hey Glo’, what are you doing. You’re probably walking around now with that big smile on your face maybe dancing. I miss my friend.

Gloria was a lot of things to me through the years; sister-in-law, roommate, “going out” buddy, confidant, and always FRIEND. I admired her tremendously because of her independence and strength. No matter what trial life threw her way, she handled it was grace and did not let it get her down. She will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to know her. RIP my friend.
Gloria was a wonderful person. She always had a smile on her face. Even though I only saw her once or twice a year over the last 20 years, she always asked me about my children, hobbies and dogs. Gloria always had a funny story to tell that had us all laughing at the Thanksgiving dinner. I am happy to have known this wonderful, trailblazing woman. She will be missed! RIP Gloria…
Gloria was such an inspiration to me during the 40 years I was blessed to have known her. I always admired her strength to persevere in spite of all her health issues. Often over the years when speaking of Gloria to family and friends I would tell them how absolutely amazing she was to have gone through all she had and yet always be so upbeat. I will miss her dearly. My prayer is that The Lord will bless Devery and the family with His peace, and comfort them all at this most difficult time. Love, Beverly
Gloria was a dear friend to me and a great asset to the Board of Directors of the SPCO Credit Union and will be Greatly missed. Her Father Bill Ramirez and I were Members of the same Labor Organization ( IAM&AW) the Union that Represent the Machinist at the Railroad. Gloria is in the hands of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To the Family EARTH HAS NO SORROW THAT HEAVEN CAN NOT HEAL GOD REST HER SOUL MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU ALL, IN JESUS NAME….AMEN
